UPDATE: Social media is now being flooded with leaked clips from Street Fighter, including Dark Ryu in action and the epic final clash between him and Roman Reigns' Akuma.
The post-credits scene is still below, but you'll have to follow the links above to see these key moments from the film. We've also added another version of the stinger, this time with the movie's splashy closing credits.
Street Fighter has finally arrived in theaters, and while critics aren't hugely impressed (it has 45% on Rotten Tomatoes), the movie leaves fans with plenty to talk about. That includes a game-changing post-credits scene, which has now leaked online.
While it's not exactly a traditional stinger, it sets the stage for a potential Street Fighter II in a big way. Whether a sequel happens will hinge on box office success, and a $70 million global opening is a decent start for a movie that reportedly had an $80 million production budget.
For context, Street Fighter opens with a strikingly animated anime sequence, and those are used several times throughout the film for flashbacks. In the first one, we're taken to 1987, where Ryu competes in a fighting tournament, with his friend Ken and their master, Gouken, watching from the sidelines.
One of his opponents is Sagat, the towering, intimidating Muay Thai fighter who will be instantly familiar to fans of the video games. Initially, Sagat appears to have the advantage, but Ryu eventually turns the tables and delivers a brutal beating that leaves his opponent seriously injured. Sagat is left lying in a pool of blood, but Ryu and Gouken are far from pleased with the outcome.
As you'll see below, Street Fighter's post-credits scene features a dialogue-free anime sequence with Sagat back on his feet, shirtless and sporting his iconic video game attire. M. Bison then approaches him, and the pair exchange a knowing look that suggests they've reached some sort of understanding.
Though brief, the scene confirms that Sagat survived his brutal encounter with Ryu and appears to set the stage for him to ally with Bison to take his revenge on the fighter who took him down years earlier.
There's obviously no word on who would play Sagat in a possible Street Fighter sequel, but this tease points to a follow-up further embracing the games by adding more heavy-hitters to the live-action franchise.
Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s "Game Over!"
Helmed by director Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is set to bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favourite characters.
The movie stars Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoai as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Eric André as Don Sauvage, with Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson as Balrog, and Jason Momoa as Blanka.
The supporting cast includes Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Kyle Mooney as Marvin, and Mel Jarnson as Cammy.
