The Latest Videogame To Be Adapted To Film? Why, TETRIS, Of Course!

The Wall Street Journal has exclusively reported that the classic videogame Tetris is being developed as a cinematic property, set to arrive in the near future. Unlike upcoming game-to-movie adaptations such as Assassin's Creed or The Last of Us, the source has no characters or story, but it seems the film will be scaled up from the 80's hit. "It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie," says Larry Kesanoff, CEO of Threshold Entertainment, the company working to bring Tetris to the big screen. "This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We're not giving feet to the geometric shapes." He explains that the film is just "the teeny tip of an iceberg that has intergalactic significance", with potential "location-based entertainment" and more on offer... if the movie's a hit, that is. Though his vague statements appear to be leaning towards ambitious, Kesanoff was behind the Mortal Kombat cinematic adaptions, which doesn't exactly instil confidence. Still, I'm sure nobody really saw this coming, but in a time of gun-toting raccoons and yellow-skinned toys being atop the box office, anything's possible! The Tetris movie is currently without a cast, director or release date.

Saw that one dude, it's a good effort, the idea is there, it's just the budget missing :/

Though with all the movies comin out now, I'd say LoZ is not long away, I'm just pissed we are getting a [frick]ing tetris movie before LoZ lmao

I agree. The only problem i really see with a Legend of Zelda blockbuster adaption is 2 thing

1. How you should handle Link since he does not talk. I think they did it right in the fan-made adaption, but since Link is a classic "nontalkingchrachter" for the reason that every player is going to be able to fantazite to be that specific charachter.

2. You needs to know where to "cut the story" or as i call it... Know if you can "Hobbitifie" if needed.

Th reason that we haven't (and unfortunally probably will never going to get one unless Nintendos shareholder change there minds) seen a proper blockbuster Legend of Zelda movie is for the failure that is The Super Mario Bros movie

I woud rather say that somebody like Guliermo Del Toro to direct a Legend of Zelda movie if a LoZ would ever happen... The look on the world style of the story, and the monster, just screams something like i could see Del Toro do. Peter Jacksson is more of a Fire Emblem kind of director

You know, from now on I'm just going to mock bullshit like this b/c Hollywood deserves it. So...

"A Tetris movie?! Really???!! Thank God! I've gone far too long in life without a Tetris movie! I can't wait to slap down my hard earned money for this masterpiece! Oh, the memories I have of playing Tetris on my Game Boy! Wait! This means I can PLAY Tetris while WATCHING Tetris! YES! BRING IT ON!"
