The official Star Trek website has announced that NAMCO Bandai Games and Paramount Pictures' upcoming video game, simply titled Star Trek, will be released on April 23rd, 2013, just in time for the May 17th release of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness. The game will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as via digital download for PC and PS3. Written by BAFTA award winner Marianne Krawczyk, Star Trek is an original adventure which takes place in between 2009's Trek movie and Into Darkness. The video game will be available beginning tomorrow morning at participating retailers nationwide. Additionally, those who pre-order Star Trek will also gain access to the “Elite Officer Pack,” which features unique uniforms and exclusive items for Kirk and Spock. The Brawler Pack includes a Kirk leather jacket costume and Spock Vulcan Science Academy costume, while the Academy Pack boasts a Spock Officer Dress Uniform, Kirk Academy Uniform and an Academy Phaser. Then there’s the Kobayashi Maru Pack, with Kirk and Spock Kobayashi Maru uniforms, and the Stealth Pack, with Kirk and Spock stealth uniforms, plus Starfleet Type IV Stealth Sniper Rifle and extra ammo. Finally, the Kelvin Pack features Kirk and Spock U.S.S. Kelvin uniforms and a U.S.S. Kelvin Hand Phaser.

Way to make the ad about all the different clothes your characters can wear. Will they have cool scarves and accessories to customize with as well?

I dislike the obsession with "skins" and outfits being bonuses. Unless they alter the characters abilities or attributes in some way, they are nothing but a waste of time and a distraction from the game itself.

The gameplay I have seen looks good but it's all about the story. If the game doesn't hold my interest dramatically I'll pass.

I'll wait for reviews.
Sounds like it could be fun thought, but then again it is movie based game...

That's a ton of DLC for 1 game that will most likely have no multiplayer or add ons aside from the campaign...

"Star Trek is an original adventure which takes place in between 2009's Trek movie and Into Darkness."

Thanks god its not based on any of the two movies. Which gives me a little bit of hope this game will be good. Game/Movie based are usually horrible!

@riseofLOGANX36, actually, Spock is half human and half Vulcan and certainly can get angry and show emotion. He chooses not to.

You don't think before you type do you?

From what I've seen, this actually looks like it will be a great movie tie-in game.
