The Batman writer Mattson Tomlin is said to be hard at work on the upcoming sequel, but the scribe has now confirmed he's also recently finished penning the screenplay for Netflix's BRZRKR

Starring Keanu Reeves, there's a huge amount of excitement for this particular comic book adaptation, and the writer followed up a Tweet from June by confirming that he was talking about this movie when he said, "Unhinged and deranged that I've been allowed to write this movie."

Adapting the comic book series of the same name from Reeves, Matt Kindt, and Ron Garney, the actor has previously described the title character as "cursed by violence trying to find out who he is." The movie was first announced last March, with plans for an anime spinoff series also announced by Netflix. Reeves will play "B" in both adaptations, no great surprise when the comic depicts the enigmatic badass with the actor's likeness.

Tomlin is no stranger to genre fare after previously penning Project Power and the upcoming Terminator anime series which, you guessed it, is also Netflix-bound.

BRZRKR doesn't currently have a director, release date, or cast beyond Reeves as lead, so it's still early days for this one. We're assuming the actor would fit this in somewhere around the recently announced Constantine 2, though he remains as busy as ever following his resurgence thanks to Lionsgate's John Wick franchise.

"The man known only as B. is half-mortal and half-God, cursed and compelled to violence...even at the sacrifice of his sanity," reads the official description of the comic book series. "But after wandering the world for centuries, the Berzerker may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else."

"In exchange, B. will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it."

Sounds like a fun ride, eh?

It’s just demigod Wolverine but I’ve enjoyed the comic nevertheless.

@GhostDog - It's starting to get really weird that celebrities are writing comics. Not even a new trend, but I don't know suddenly it's more noticeable?

I dug last week's Sgt Rock by Bruce Campbell.

@Reeds2Much - pretty obvious he wants to build his own comic franchise.

@Reeds2Much - It's normal, some people can do more than one expression of art if they try. My guess is celebrities have the money (and possibly time) most people lack to invest in such things.

@Fogs - I get it but it can be a bit annoying that they essentially get a leg up trading on their name which automatically gets them attention whilst other creators struggle

@Radders - Ahh that's totally true. In the other hand, wouldn't you? I mean, if you felt you got talent?

@Reeds2Much - I’ve noticed it too. Feels like a “move” for some and geneuine for others, like Bruce Campbell. I wonder how much of it they are actually writing because there’s always co writers on the comics as well; people who’ve consistently wrote comics too.

I assume the celebs have half an idea and the writers do the rest. You know it’s weird when MGK has a comic out now lol.

What makes more sense (financially)? A Highlander-reboot or BRZRKR?

@GoldenBoy02 - Keanu murdering people is garsunteed to print money, HL is more of a gamble based on 80’s reboot performance so far and the franchises history. Not much 80’s cheese fun has been adapted well even with the best of intentions and casts… *cough*robocop, terminator, etc…
