MGM has shared our first look at Creed III via a pair of posters featuring Michael B. Jordan as the returning Adonis Creed and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors as his latest opponent.

There had been speculation that Majors might be playing the son of Rocky III's Clubber Lang (Mr. T), with another theory pointing to the Lovecraft Country actor taking on the role of Apollo Creed's other son. However, it's now come to light that he'll actually be introduced as an old friend of Adonis' named Damian Anderson.

We still don't know much about him, but reports from test screenings indicate that Anderson and Creed met when they were both staying in a group home as young boys.

Majors has appeared in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Da 5 Bloods, Netflix western The Harder They Fall and Black Label Media’s Devotion. Of course, he is also set to play the villainous Kang the Conqueror in Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania after debuting as a Variant of the character in Loki.

Check out the posters below.

Jordan will also be stepping behind the camera for the first time to helm this third installment in the boxing drama franchise. Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are set to reprise their respective roles, but Sylvester Stallone will not be back as Rocky Balboa.

Zach Baylin and Keenan Coogler penned the script.

Creed III is set for release on March 3, 2023.

Trailer incoming...

Majors looks HUGE! I just hope it's not as distracting as Drago in the last movie when compared to Adonis. No way in real life would that fight been in the same weight class.

Hopefully B. Jordan does something special behind the camera, he's had good relations with some reputable directors who likely inspired his craft. Fingers crossed.

@UniqNo - I’m interested to see how he does behind the camera as well. I have never cared about Rocky/Creed movies in any way outside of the first Rocky, and that’s because of Stallones involvement at every stage of that which showcased his actual talent more than pretty much anything else has since. It’s kind of where my interest lies here as well just with MBJ. I think he’s extremely talented.

@Deklipz - Creed 1 was really good and really opened up Coogler to the world, part 2 was servicable. Fruitvale station (coogler's other effort) was also really good but i think it was Creed that really put him on the map.

But yeah i hear you, i think (hope) B Jordan can do some good. And he's still relatively quite young!

Clubber Kang - Haven't seen any of the Creed movies yet but I'm gonna need to change that soon.

@BobGarlen - They're good! One of the best soft reboots around.

@Fogs - I've never heard a single piece of negative criticism for either of the previous two, I'm pretty excited despite Rocky Balboa being the perfect conclusion for the series.

@BobGarlen - And that's why I liked them (I am as much as a critic of today's hollywood as the next guy). Respects the legacy and are very human films, as Rocky films should be. Gotta say Creed 1 and specially 2 had moments I really got emotional over.

Let me know what you think, I'm curious now :)

@BobGarlen - The first Creed is my favorite Rocky movie. And I'm a huge fan of the franchise. Second one was good too, but part 1 was perfection.

@mountainman - The Rocky Franchise has a pretty amazing track record.

@BobGarlen - It does and I really enjoy all of them, with the possible exception of 5. The only problem with the classics (1-4) is that they are a bit dated. Still great stories and character arcs. But Rocky Balboa and the first Creed are some of the best in the whole series.
BobGarlen
BobGarlen - 10/18/2022, 3:19 PM
@mountainman - I think 5 is universally considered the worst, and from what I remember of it, it's not bad but the others are great (even if a tad dated). Rocky and Rocky Balboa are both legitimately Oscar level films.

@BobGarlen - Yes to Rocky and Rocky Balboa being the top of the Stallone era (I think Balboa is the superior).

If I had to make a ranking, I'd go:

1) Creed
2) Rocky Balboa
3) Rocky 4 (I know this is ranked too high but the nostalgia with this one is strong for me)
4) Rocky
5) Creed 2
6) Rocky 2
7) Rocky 3
8) Rocky 5

I think the father/son dynamic in both Creed and Rocky Balboa just really get me which is why those are my two favorites. Plus I love when an aging hero past his prime is done well and not disregarded.
BobGarlen
BobGarlen - 10/18/2022, 3:53 PM
@mountainman - I still need to see the Rocky 4 director's cut. If I had to rank them right now (since I haven't seen Creed or Creed 2)

1. Rocky Balboa (the scenes at the cemetery and reliving his memories of Adrian bring me to tears)
2. Rocky
3. Rocky II
4. Rocky IV
5. Rocky III
6. Rocky V

Majors being the other son would have been different
Deklipz
Deklipz - 10/18/2022, 9:01 AM
@LilJimmy - Could still pull that as a twist, especially if they steer away from it subtly instead of leaning into it.
ShimmyShimmyYA

@Deklipz - ehh it only works if he was the natural born son contrasting MBJ as the bastard child if their both just children of Apollo’s affairs then that’s a little boring
