The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Damon Lindelof (
Star Trek,
Prometheus) has been hired by Paramount to rewrite their zombie film
Wolrd War Z, an adaptation of Max Brooks' novel which stars Brad Pitt. Originally slated for a December 2012 release, the movie was delayed earlier this year to a June 21st, 2013 release date (mostly due to the studio bring up Tom Cruise's
Jack Reacher to a December release). Recently, it was revealed that the film will undergo seven weeks of reshoots (THR confirms that the reshoots will begin in September or October). Lindelof is said to be focusing primarily on the third act in the script. The movie was filmed last year in various European locations, and is directed by Marc Foster (
Quantum Of Solace).
While we're on the topic of rewrites, we have another report for you.
Variety says that Joby Harold - who recently wrote the graphic novel adaptation
All You Need Is Kill for Warner Bros. - has been set by WB to rewrite their
Twilight Zone film. The script was originally written by Jason Rothenberg, and was then rewritten by Anthony Peckham. Matt Reeves (
Cloverfield) is on board to direct. WB wishes to have the film (which the studio sees as a possible tentpole) to begin production this summer.
