Disney's Free Guy massively exceeded expectations at the box office this weekend, and while the movie left us with plenty of talking points, that Chris Evans cameo has sent social media into a frenzy.

When Ryan Reynolds' Guy is forced to contend with DUDE ("Catchphrase!"), he uses a power-up to wield Captain America's shield. That prompts Evans, who is watching the fight unfold on his smartphone, to declare, "What the sh*t?!" in one of an already very funny movie's funniest moments.

Now, Free Guy director Shawn Levy has explained how Reynolds helped make that cameo a reality.

Explaining that Disney said "Yes" to all of their requests, the filmmaker added: "We were beyond stoked. And once we had that, then Ryan was like, ‘Wait a second, Chris Evans is in the same town we are shooting his Apple show, Defending Jacob. I'm going to text him and ask him if he'll come by and be in the movie.’ I guess that's a thing movie stars do. ‘Hi, movie star. I'm your fellow movie star. Want to come be in my movie?’"

"Chris Evans, being a cool, good guy, was like, ‘If I can come by and literally be in and out in 10 minutes, I think I can slip it in.’ So, that's what happened," Levy revealed. "That's how we ended up with Chris Evans, in addition to a lightsaber and a Hulk fist and Cap's shield."

Evans' reaction to Guy using the shield really made the scene stand out more than it otherwise might have done, and it's awesome to hear what a good sport the Avengers: Endgame star was. Rumours continue to persist that he'll return as Captain America somewhere down the line, but whether he'll get to share the screen with Reynolds' Deadpool obviously remains to be seen.

Cool he's up for it, but doubt Evans is gonna return soon as Steve Rogers. Otherwise he would've done so for What If (even though Keaton did a good impression)

Someone get Josh a Thesaurus, he needs to learn new adjectives.

Also, maybe even a dictionary, so he can learn what things are "epic", "mind blowing" and "jaw dropping".
