FX President John Landgraf Confirms Possible Plans To Reshoot POWERS Pilot

This was rumoured earlier this week, but now FX President John Landgraf has confirmed that there are plans in place to reshoot the pilot of Powers, although it is possible that some of the original cast members will return. Hit the jump for more details.

After FX decided not to pick up Powers after a pilot was shot last year, the future of the small screen adaptation of the Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming comic book has remained unclear. Earlier this week, reliable sources indicated that there was still a future for the show, something now confirmed by IGN TV at the Television Critics Association press tour. FX President John Landgraf had this to say about a Tweet from Bendis earlier this week in which he revealed that he head read a script for the THIRD episode of the show. "Yeah. Brian has the benefit of reading scripts that I haven’t read! But what we ended up doing is hiring Chic Eglee, who had done the work on the pilot we shot. Not only to rewrite the pilot that we had shot, but to do three more episodes and put together a writing staff. So I think Brian has now read those scripts. I haven’t seen them yet. So we are going to end up having four scripts for Powers. And if we elect to move forward, yeah, I think we will just go back and reshoot the pilot from scratch, with a new cast in all probability." So, does that mean we won't see Jason Patric and Lucy Punch as Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim? "I think there’s a possibility that some of the original cast members might return. Jason Patric certainly wants to look at the material and wants to render an opinion about whether he still wants to be involved in the project. But it’s just as likely, I think, that we’d just start from scratch and reshoot it." It looks as if the show is finally moving forward...

They should just hire Kyle Chandler and kick Jason Patrick out if he doesn't want to do it. Kyle would be perfect.

Powers could be a great TV series. It's pretty much like CSI, just that these detectives handle cases surrounding people with superpowers.

@WelcomeBackFrank, Kyle Chandler just came off of doing a TV show for 5 years and has 4 upcoming films. Not sure if he'd be willing to jump back into TV at this point. I'd imagine he'd want to stick to movies for the time being.

I haven't read Powers, so I'm not sure how much action is involved, but there has to be some. They guy's turning 47 in a couple of months. I wonder if someone his age would be willing to sign on to doing this for multiple seasons.
