Paramount+ has debuted the official trailer for the eagerly-anticipated series Special Ops: Lioness, an upcoming spy thriller starring Zoe Saldaña (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3; Avatar: The Way of Water) in what could arguably be one of her most badass roles to date.
The series hails from the mind of Taylor Sheridan and will follow "the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA's spear in the war on terror. The Lioness Program, overseen by Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) and Donald Westfield (Kelly), enlists an aggressive Marine Raider named Cruz (De Oliveira) to operate undercover alongside Joe among the power brokers of State terrorism in the CIA's efforts to thwart the next 9/11."
It's the latest in a long line of shows Sheridan has created for Paramount, following Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, 1883, Tulsa King, and 1923.
In addition to the fan-favorite Saldaña, the impressive ensemble cast features Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Stephanie Nur, and Hannah Love Lanier.
The first season is expected to run eight episodes and will premiere on July 23, exclusively on Paramount+.
