Is Lashana Lynch poised to replace Daniel Craig as 007 in the
James Bond franchise?
A new rumor from
The Daily Mail claims that Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s rewrite of the
Bond 25 script will see the 31-year-old
Captain Marvel actress introduced as an MI6 agent sporting the iconic's spy's codename. According to the report, the movie features "a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman."
Very perceptive. Lynch's role was being kept under wraps so there was already some speculation that she may be playing another agent, if not
that agent specifically.
At this point it's not clear if she'll actually be taking over as the franchise's lead while the Bond character takes a backseat, but it seems more likely that this new 007 will simply feature in a supporting capacity alongside Bond... for the time being, at least.
It's important to take this as a rumor for now, but it is also worth noting that this particular tabloid is generally on point when it comes to
James Bond-related scoops.
