JAMES BOND Rumors Addressed By KINGSMAN Star Taron Egerton: "I Don't Think I'm The Right Person For That"

Taron Egerton has long been a fan-favourite choice to play the new James Bond, but the Kingsman star claims to have never met with producers and even seems convinced the role has been cast. Check it out!

Daniel Craig's time as James Bond reached an end with No Time to Die, and while there have been plenty of rumours about who will play the next 007, nothing has been confirmed. We'd like to think an announcement is imminent, especially if MGM hopes to get a new movie into theaters by 2025, but the franchise's producers don't appear to be in any real rush.

One actor who remains a fan-favourite choice to play Ian Fleming's iconic creation is Kingsman star Taron Egerton.

Doing the rounds to promote Apple TV+'s upcoming Tetris movie, the Welsh actor was asked by Games Radar+ (via ActioNewz.com) whether there's any truth to the rumours he will be picking up where Craig left off.

"I mean, I think they've already got someone, and it's not me," he started. Asked if those comments are based on fact or instinct, he suggested it was the latter. "Yeah. I mean, I've never been a part of the conversations. I've never met the Broccolis. They've never enquired about me."

"I've just never been one of the guys that they're looking at. I just don't think I'm the right person for that," Egerton continues. "I think there's much, much, much better candidates for that role than me. But, you know, I'd be a very willing audience member. They're brilliant films."

Is Egerton protesting a little too much here? He'd certainly be a fitting choice for Bond, but Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is thought to be the current frontrunner and may have already been cast.

Last year, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson said they were looking to find an actor willing to commit to the role for the long haul. The latter later followed up by making it clear that while they're not planning to cast a considerably younger actor as the new 007, they would like whoever is cast to play the iconic spy for a decade or more.

Do you think Egerton would be a good fit for Bond?

Would make no sense given Kingsman. And he’s too small in stature.

I just hope the next Bond actor gets better movies than Craig did.

Casino Royale and Skyfall were both amazing, but the other three he was in were all pretty bad. Finally saw No Time to Die recently and that might have actually been the worst of the bunch.

@mountainman - I actually enjoyed No Time To Die, but the fact that Craig has two of the best Bond movies ever made means he didn’t have a bad run.

ALL the Bond actor’s have ups and downs in their runs. Except maybe Dalton at only 2 films and Lazenby with only 1

i do like taron...i think he's a really good actor...but he doesn't have the mass i associate with bond...nor the physical presence...a cute kid, but i see bond as more of a man around 35-40...with some experience and demons

Hopefully for the next bond its either stand alone adventures or a properly planned out arc

Seriously the way the Craig movies tried to connect everything at the last minute was so forced

@dracula - personally prefer stand alone. Especially when looking back at a Bond’s library and just picking one to watch. Even Craig’s best films are the two stand alone entries.

@MrDandy - same, although really they could even just do a loose arc

The Connery movies werent super connected except for with every movie with the exception of Goldfinger having Bond face a Specter agent

Dude is hella talented. Rocketman and Black Bird made me respect his acting range.

Nah, and he already played a parody of the character.
I think they are going for Aaron Johnson, who I think is a good pick.

I really like him but still not right for the role imo. Maybe better than Aaron Taylor but still I hope they go with a relative unknown again in the role.

He'd be good in the role.

But are they still considering straight white men for this role?

@DocSpock - Broccoli already stated James Bond will always be a straight man.

@TheHumanSpider2 -

I am surprised Hollywood didn't go up in rainbow flames over that.

I think he is, but as a villain. Think that could be fun.

Also, Tetris looks pretty epic. Never expected that.

He's a good actor but a bit too boyish imo, plus he was already in Kingsman so that wouldn't make much sense to play another spy.

Lowkey still holding out on the Hail Mary that Henry Cavill might still end up as Bond; he still just ticks off too many boxes for me to not consider him (although I wouldn't be mad if Aaron Taylor-Johnson ends up getting the role either).

@BeNice123 - Michael Fassbender as Bond would be fantastic but seeing as he's 45 he's probably considered too old for the role now unfortunately.

He looks like teen or early 20s. Bond should look like he is in his 30s.

He's a straight white male. Terrible for the role of James Bond.
