It's still unclear what's happening with Daniel Craig's final outing as James Bond, whether Danny Boyle and John Hodge will in fact be at he helm of the project, or if EON will return to the already completed Purvis and Wade script. Despite this, some are already looking toward the next iteration of the famed super spy, and it seems the list of potential candidates is endless.
What's more in a world in which EON producers; Barabara Broccoili and Michael G Wilson revealed that there's no reason that Bond couldn't be a different race or gender in the future, a whole new sandbox of speculation and casting has opened up.
Now while Thor: Ragnarok's Idris Elba has been firmly at the top of people's wish lists when it comes to James Bond being portrayed by a Black actor, Selma star David Oyelowo's name has also been bandied about.
Interestingly, Oyelowo has already portrayed James Bond, having voiced the role in the audio book of Anthony Horowitz's Trigger Mortis novel. Recently the actor was asked about his interest in taking on the role for real, while participating in a Reddit AMA...
It's certainly an understandable hesitation from the Jack Reacher actor, as with any iconic franchise role it risks typecasting and sometimes is a handicap when it comes to the actor wanting to do much else during their tenure. Though on the "challenging" comment; one would imagine playing Ian Fleming's secret agent would be far less daunting than portraying Martin Luther King Jr.
But what do you think? Would you like to see Oyelowo take on the role of 007? Who's your pick to take over from Daniel Craig? And what are your hopes for Bond 25? Leave your thoughts below.
