Dystopian Future Movie Mickey 17, tells the story of a man- Mickey who in a bid to run away from dangerous creditors signs up for a job he knows nothing about, as an ‘expendable’.

This job though it grants him a form of escape he wanted which was very exclusive, in that it offered an escape from an overcrowded and failing planet, literally, it required he signs off his life away to a shady corporation, giving them the right to put him through severe situations mostly leading to an end of his life. However, he gets re-printed completely with his previous memory.

Mickey 17 is the 17th iteration of Mickey who has previously died several times in very horrific ways. This time, in a job gone wrong or right, depending on whose point of view you are considering, Mickey 17 survives an experience with alien creatures which we later discover to be intelligent.

All the while, Mickey 18, another iteration had been printed.

Anyways, this is not a review of the movie per se, I just wanted to know what you think about the ability and if it can be considered as a comic super power. Here's my opinion on the issue; It actually is. Hold on, let me explain.

If somehow they decide to print several versions of Mickey and let them coexist, though very unlikely according to the movie plot, this is considered an abomination, but if they do, then, I believe it actually can be considered a Super Power. Obviously, it would have several benefits and flaws, which I have meticulously detailed below.

Benefits

  1. All versions have an updated memory up until they were created, as such teaching essential skills like fighting wouldn't be an issue. But this must be taught to be original Mickey before he gets printed, or they could always rescan another Mickey's mind after he has learned the skill and update the rest with the memory transfer machine.
  2. Certain versions of Mickey can be set aside specifically to learn new skills like history, new battle tactics, fighting techniques, etc, which would be useful to update newer versions of Mickey with.
  3. They don't need to stash a version of Mickey away like Dupli-Kate in Invincible does, if they could backup the original memory in several places, I believe they are good to go.
  4. I know this seems dark, but they have a sustainable way of disposing off dead Mickeys. That's a plus from me.

Flaws

  1. Different Mickeys have different dominant character traits, Anger, Indecisiveness, etc.
  2. Based on personal opinion, and I understand if you don't agree, the fact that they all have freewill and no version has the monopoly of decision or influence over the other (when different versions coexist simultaneously) makes it difficult to achieve a fixed purpose as we see in the movie. This is unlike Dupli-Kate in Invincible, where the prime version is practically in charge. Actually, I just remembered, Mickey's situation is very much like the Blue twins (someone please help remind me of their names) constantly cloning new versions in the same series - In Invincible. They are always fighting over who should be in charge.
  3. No actual super power other than multiple versions. Then again, same with Dupli-Kate (and we consider her a superpowered figure).

While this is very unlikely, I am really open to Mickey 17 being spun off into a comic book superhero or supervillain in that universe, or maybe a crossover. Who's with me?
