The Hollywood Reporter reveal that
Real Steel, which stars Hugh Jackman, has fought its way to the #1 position at the US box office. The movie took $8.6M yesterday, although how well it ultimately does will depend on whether it can continue to attract an audience over the weekend. Apparently, it's currently headed for a $24M or $26M debut, a fair bit short of the predicted $30M+ opening. The site also reports that there's a chance it could push that figure upwards of $27M if families turn out in full force, and with a budget of $110M, Dreamworks must be keeping their fingers crossed that they'll make that up when it's released internationally over the coming weeks.
