Sam Mendes In Talks With Sony Pictures And MGM To Helm JAMES BOND 24
Despite the fact that he released a statement saying he wouldn't be returning to helm a follow-up to Skyfall, director Sam Mendes is now back in talks to return for the next instalment of the long running franchise. Read on for details!
Well, this is an interesting twist! Following reports that everyone from Shane Black to David Yates is in talks to helm James Bond 24, the director behind Skyfall is now back in the running - and the frontrunner - according to Deadline. That's right, Sam Mendes (who recently said he would NOT be back for a follow-up to his billion dollar Bond movie) is now said to be in talks to return for the next instalment with Daniel Craig. Mendes originally bowed out of the project due to commitments to the West End launch of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and a stage production of King Lear. However, the site reveals that, "he and the producers got back in touch, and they’ve decided to wait for him to work through those other commitments. While Mendes looked doubtful, a bunch of names have been floated, from Ang Lee to Nicolas Winding Refn and Christopher Nolan. I’m not sure there is much validity to any of them, and not it is a moot point, because Mendes will be the director of the next Bond." So, sounds pretty definite.
