Sam Mendes In Talks With Sony Pictures And MGM To Helm JAMES BOND 24

Well, this is an interesting twist! Following reports that everyone from Shane Black to David Yates is in talks to helm James Bond 24, the director behind Skyfall is now back in the running - and the frontrunner - according to Deadline. That's right, Sam Mendes (who recently said he would NOT be back for a follow-up to his billion dollar Bond movie) is now said to be in talks to return for the next instalment with Daniel Craig. Mendes originally bowed out of the project due to commitments to the West End launch of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and a stage production of King Lear. However, the site reveals that, "he and the producers got back in touch, and they’ve decided to wait for him to work through those other commitments. While Mendes looked doubtful, a bunch of names have been floated, from Ang Lee to Nicolas Winding Refn and Christopher Nolan. I’m not sure there is much validity to any of them, and not it is a moot point, because Mendes will be the director of the next Bond." So, sounds pretty definite. How do you guys feel about this news? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

You can't just [frick]ing say you're not gonna' do it, then want to do it. The [frick]? Really hope he doesn't get the job, absolutely despised Skyfall, one of my least favorite Bond's by far, and I've seen most of them. It's too bad, cuz I loved Road to Perdition and Revolutionary Road, the guy's a great director, but Skyfall...*throws up in trash can*

Money is what it comes down to though. The producers looooove making money, and Skyfall made a shit ton of it. So I think it's safe to say Mendes will most definitely direct the next Bond. I bet they get Nolan to do the one after though.

Wouldn't be horrible but I always like to see different directors on each bond film.

I think I'm like one of the only people who didn't like this movie so I really don't want to see him come back personally. But his movie did do good at the box office so maybe it is the best option.

Looks like the producers will give him a three year window after Skyfall to release the next film.Thats why he's coming back. I hope they go back to the Quantum organization and bring in Blofield.

Skyfall is overrated. Copied alot from TDK. Some new director should be hired for the next Bond.

Levi...I commented or "talked shit" one time and in response to ONE of your comments. There are people here that have something derogatory to say about you everytime you post. Not to mention did I keep fighting with you?? No. If you dont want to mention where you are from, fine. But dont say I talk shit about you, or elude to it being a consistent thing on my behalf. I actually happen to find you amusing sometimes, and even somewhat intelligent when it comes to comics. But you can sit there and pout..lol..its cool.

I liked skyfall and all but it was way too TDK esque or should I say( I don't wanna sound like a douche) he pretty much copied and pasted scenes from the dark knight and put it in Skyfall. That's why, although I thought it was amazing, I'm not impressed with Sam Mendes. All he did was simply take an enormous inspiration from TDK . When I watched it I loved it but I didn't wanna give Mendes credit becasue it seemed like all he did was copy Nolan. Don't get me wrong there was some orginal stuff there but It was all pretty much a big rip off of TDK. If he comes back he can't re make TDK again. He will need to be orginal. I hope he comes back but if he does it needs to be orginal. Loved the final fight scene at skyfall by the way.
