The first poster has been released for Prime Video's Samaritan starring the legendary Sylvester Stallone (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). The highly anticipated action-thriller launches in more than 240 countries worldwide on August 26, 2022, and it's also been confirmed today that a trailer is coming soon!

For now, though, this poster is accompanied by a few new stills offering a better idea of what to expect from the movie.

"I love action films that also have heart. I wanted to be involved with Samaritan because this story has many layers that I think people can relate to," Stallone says. "It’s something of a morality tale that is also very exciting to watch. We are thrilled that this will be seen globally on Prime Video where my fans and all audiences can enjoy it together around the world."

In Samaritan, thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon "Wanna" Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbour Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis.

Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbour out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

Directed by Julius Avery from a script by Bragi F. Schut, Samaritan also stars Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias.

Hopefully, we'll have more to share from this one with you soon, but this looks like a lot of fun. We always enjoy seeing an original take on a superhero character, and Samaritan definitely feels akin to the sort of action movies that put Stallone on the map once upon a time.

As noted, Samaritan arrives on Prime Video on August 26!

This feels like something out of an MNight Verse. If it were then Stallone might be the only one to be in DC, Marvel and the Unbreakable franchises.

That costume seens very 90’s

Although that could make sense if he is a retired hero. He probably fought crime in the 90’s

Big Stallone fan so will for sure give it a watch
