SKYFALL And THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY May Open On The Same Day In China
Earlier this year, a big chunk was taken out of the box office totals of The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises when they were pitted against each other in China, and now the same may happen with Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Read on for details.
Variety reports that Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey look set to face off against each other in China later this year, just about guaranteeing that their respective box office totals WILL suffer. Despite denials from the China Film Group, reliable sources tell the site that they "would not be surprised to see "Skyfall" and "Hobbit" squaring off". Earlier this year, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises were released on the same day, as was The Expendables 2 and Prometheus. While they made $191.3 million at the Chinese box office, that's "roughly half of what they could have had they launched separately, according to knowledgeable observers". Which movie do you think will win?
