THE EQUALIZER 3 Sets Up Huge MAN ON FIRE Reunion As Dakota Fanning Joins Denzel Washington-Led Cast

It looks like we're getting a Man on Fire reunion next year as it's being reported that Dakota Fanning has signed on to reunite with Denzel Washington in Antoine Fuqua's The Equalizer 3.

After winning over audiences with their surrogate father-daughter dynamic in the Tony Scott-directed classic Man on Fire, it sounds like Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning will soon recreate that chemistry in Sony Pictures' The Equalizer 3, which, according to Deadline, has added Fanning (War of the WorldsThe Alienist) to its cast.

She'll reteam with 2x Academy Award-winner Washington (The Tragedy of MacbethTraining Day), who returns as Robert McCall, for the first time in nearly twenty years, and should add some much-needed buzz to the sequel as audiences will likely be overjoyed to see the pair back on the big screen.

Plot details remain under wraps, but both director Antoine Fuqua (The Terminal List; Training Day) and screenwriter Richard Wenk (The Equalizer; The Equalizer 2) are back for chapter three. No production start date was given, but filming will presumably begin later this year as Sony has already set a 2023 release date.

Both The Equalizer and The Equalizer 2 were box office successes, with the first installment grossing $192.3 million worldwide while the second earned $190.4 million globally. With Fanning's involvement, it's likely the third film will be the biggest one yet as audiences will be very eager to see the two stars reteam on the big screen.

While Fanning is best known for her work as a child actress in Tom Cruise's War of the WorldsI Am Sam, and the aforementioned Man on Fire, her more recent credits include The AlienistThe First Lady, Ocean's Eight, and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. She can be seen next in Rodham, Showtime's Ripley, and Mélanie Laurent's The Nightingale, where she'll star opposite sister Elle Fanning.

Washington recently earned his ninth Academy Award-nomination for The Tragedy of Macbeth and his recent credits include The Little ThingsRoman J. Israel, Esq.Fences, and The Magnificent Seven

The Equalizer 3 hits theaters on September 1, 2023.

The first two movies were fine, so I'll probably give this a go too someday. Fanning is a cool addition though. Wonder if we'll get to see her in a CBM soon (and as who)

Thought this series was dead when Queen Latifa did a tv show reboot

Havent watched this or that

Although man, outside of Star Trek and Mission Impossible, this is the only tv to movie reboot to actually work at being turned into a series of films

Too bad A Team 2 didnt happen, that was a fun movie

Hope its more like the first Equalizer. The second opened well but the entire third act was a bit too ridiculous and ludicrous, taking me out of it a bit.

Man on Fire is incredible. Maybe Tony Scott's best movie, and one of Denzel's best roles. Also the best Punisher movie to not actually be called The Punisher.
