Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentor ship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen

Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne
Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket
Lenny Kravitz as Cinna

Great books, good movie. How dare someone have a similar idea to something else Grif. Kind of a dumb thing to say considering you post on a comic book website whereas just about every story and character is recycled from someone else's ideas dumbass.

hit movie????????????
i guarantee that here in scotland the cinemas are empty.

sad but true
we are watching the cinema industry collapse,It has before.
And 3d will not save it.
And i dont think trilogies or series will help.

Saw these before, they are all pretty cool. Love the Nancy Meyers one the most, actually, but Refn's pretty cool, too. Nolan's Ratner's, Bay's, and Corman's are funny.

Fincher's is also pretty cool, but it's not here.

Saw HG last night. Although I tried not to, with all the hooplah surrounding this film I unfortunately had developed high expectations.

Either that or the movie just plain sucked.

It was so slow paced and cheesy and the violence wasn't even shocking like everyone said it was.

Lmao! @Orlando Bloom

LOL at the Nolan one
"Brunette Actress as Katniss"

Nolan does have a thing for brunette's.

I really liked the movie but it made me realize how ahead of their time the creators of Mojo and the Mojoverse were. That was created before the reality "vote them off the show " craze ever started.

LOL at the dead on Michael Bay poster---he would pull some shite like that.
Safe to assume Grif has not seen either Battle Royale or Hunger Games and he is relying on internet fodder because they are not the same- HG is not a remake nor did it steal from a totally different movie which is Battle Royale. They are as close as Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Apprentice

Well doesn't really matter to me who is seeing what in Scotland. The movie got a cinema score of A and made 155 million this weekend here in America. I'm sure Lionsgate will take that despite empty cinemas in your country Trojan.

As much as I like BR having read the book and seen the movie the similarities between that and HG are in that they got their inspiration from the same person Stephen King. Sorry BR fans but interviews with Takami have him stating several times that he took much of his influence from King and there is really nothing original about many stories and it really is about characters and development of the story, not just the concept of kids fighting to the death. Glad this movie made this money so we can get the sequel

Some of the posters are very clever. I would pay to see the Brett Ratner one.

With that cast, it would be a hilarious movie.

The Bret Ratner one made me laugh. "Based on a book or something" lol.

Btw, shouldn't he have said Chris Tucker as Haymitch instead of Eddie Murphy?
