20th Century Studios has released a pair of new TV spots and four awesome new character posters for Ridley Scott's upcoming historical epic The Last Duel, featuring plenty of pulse-pounding footage and a stunning look at the film's four principal stars.

The film is set in 14th-century France and tells the story of Marguerite de Thibouville (Jodie Comer), who claims she has been raped by her husband's best friend and squire Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver). Her husband, the knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon), then challenges his friend to trial by combat. It is the last legally sanctioned duel in the entire history of France.

The acclaimed drama, which held its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, stars Academy Award-winner Matt Damon (Jason BourneThe Martian) as Jean de Carrouges, 2x Academy Award-nominee Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Rise of SkywalkerLogan Lucky) as Jacques Le Gris, Primetime Emmy-nominee Jodie Comer (Killing Eve; Free Guy) as Marguerite de Carrouges, and 2x Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck (Zack Snyder's Justice LeagueThe Way Back) as Count Pierre d'Alençon.

Check out the new character posters and two new TV spots below:

The Last Duel is a gripping tale of betrayal and vengeance set against the brutality of 14th century France, directed by visionary filmmaker and four-time Academy Award® nominee Ridley Scott. In theaters nationwide October 15, 2021.

I'll give it chance but I find so hard to imagine Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in this sort of film, I expect them to start talking about baseball any minute.

I just can't. A movie about French history with an American cast. I just can't.

@solskulldeath - Shocking, isn't it? American actors have certainly NEVER played Europeans before. Ridley Scott is really making a bold choice here. Not as bold as Europeans playing Americans though. That would be REALLY crazy, would never happen.

@SerKurtWagner - with an accent? not. At least some European actors manage to do the American accent excellently.
