TOP GUN: MAVERICK Recruits FALLOUT Director Christopher McQuarrie To Rewrite Script

During TOP GUN: MAVERICK's brief production hiatus as the film aims for a later release, Tom Cruise has picked up MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT collaborator Christopher McQuarrie to polish the script.

Top Gun is considered a classic among many, one that has been held close to the hearts of fans for ages. The existence of a sequel is a surprising one, and like many franchises that have rebooted, there will no doubt be naysayers. It is the job of the filmmakers to prove them wrong.

Following the success of Mission: Impossible - Fallout, it is no surprise that Cruise and McQuarrie are teaming up once again. Top Gun: Maverick will be their tenth collaboration together, the first being 2008's Valkyrie directed by Bryan Singer. On a negative note, the last time McQuarrie was called in to repolish a script it was last year's  The Mummy. This may indicate a lack of faith in the material the studio has now, prompting Cruise to call on one of his close friends to fix the screenplay. This is especially unsual considering the fact that the information was revealed mid-production. Hopefully, McQuarrie delivers the goods.

I'm that one guy you get annoyed with because he talks about movies too much, but I'm also the one guy you love to talk movies with.
