The Hollywood Reporter has learned today that MGM has picked up an original new superhero movie, titled Heroes & Villains, from writer/director David Robert Mitchell (It Follows; Under the Silver Lake).

Plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but the project is being described as a genre-blending and genre-bending film that will be an all-new take on superheroes. Mitchell has already completed the script, which has been in the works for quite some time, and is expected to begin casting the main roles relatively soon.

In addition to writing and directing, Mitchell will also serve as a producer alongside Chris Bender (Mulan; The Hangover) and Jake Weiner (Mulan; My Spy) of Good Fear Content.

Mitchell is best known for writing/directing the supernatural psychological horror It Follows, which starred Maika Monroe (The Guest; Independence Day: Resurgence) , and more recently, the neo-noir black comedy conspiracy thriller Under the Silver Lake, which featured Academy Award-nominee Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man; The Amazing Spider-Man 2) in the lead role with Golden Globe-nominee Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road; Logan Lucky) and Topher Grace (That '70s Show; Spider-Man 3) in supporting parts.

Is this an opportunity for another Snyder Cut thread???

Lol, nah. But I still gotta watch Silver Lake. It was delayed so many times I had lost interest by the time it was released VOD
