SHE-RA Live-Action Series From DreamWorks In Early Development At Amazon

She-Ra is set to make her live-action debut in a new Amazon series, which is currently in the early stages of development. The show won't have anything to do with Netflix's recent Princesses of Power.

It looks like She-Ra might just beat her muscle-bound twin brother to a live-action reboot.

While the planned Masters of the Universe movie has now stalled, Variety reports that a live-action She-Ra series is in early development at Amazon. DreamWorks, who worked on the recent Netflix animated series, will executive produce, but this is expected to be a standalone story with no connections to The Princesses of Power. A writer has yet to be enlisted.

She-Ra debuted in 1985's He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword before going on to feature in her own animated spinoff, She-Ra: Princess of Power. The character was revived for the acclaimed She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Netflix series, which recently aired its fifth and final season.

The trade doesn't seem to know a whole lot about this live-action project, but both animated shows followed Adora as she struggled with embracing her destiny as the protector of Etheria. There were significant differences, however, as the Netflix series removed any connection to He-Man and made the young warrior a Horde soldier who comes to realize that she's fighting for the bad guys.
