Kevin Smith is a household name for comic book enthusiasts. From his comic-covering podcasts like Fatman on Batman to AMC's Comic Book Men, it's hard to miss Smith when indulging in comic material, especially due to his relationship with Stan Lee.

Long-time Kevin Smith fans are undoubtedly familiar with the relationship between Kevin and Stan and their many interviews, particularly Stan Lee's Mutants, Monsters, and Marvels, which the pair created together. Newer comic fans learned about their friendship due to Captain Marvel's Stan Lee cameo, which was a callback to the Mallrats cameo that Smith asked him to make back in 1995.

Even more recently, Smith was entrusted with creating Howard the Duck for Marvel's animated Offenders Hulu slate before the plug was pulled, so Stan Lee is far from the only one to recognize the passion and love he has for comic stories.

A new documentary, Clerk, includes interviews with not only Lee himself, but also Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks), Brian Johnson (Comic Book Men), Justin Long (Tusk), Ben Affleck (Dogma, Zack Snyder's Justice League), Matt Damon (Dogma, Thor: Love & Thunder), Scott Mosier (Clerks, Chasing Amy), Penn Jillette (Penn and Teller), Brian Quinn (Impractical Jokers), and many more, all sharing their cherished memories with Kevin.

One of the most important friendships that Kevin Smith has formed over the years is with Jason Mewes. Together, Jay and Silent Bob made a lasting impression that defined Smith's View Askewniverse, appearing in the films Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks 2, Jay and Silent Bob's Groovy Cartoon Movie, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and the upcoming Clerks 3.

The fictional duo transcended the film medium, appearing in comic books like Clerks and Chasing Dogma, video games Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl, Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, Too Fat To Fly, Let Us Dance, and the in-the-works Jay and Silent Bob VR Game. The pair has also appeared in a comic issue of Green Arrow and even the television show The Flash, as Smith was able to slip a cameo into an episode he directed of the CW series.

In Clerk, fans learn a lot about Kevin Smith's past, including the story of how he and Jason Mewes first met, as told by Brian Johnson and Mewes himself in the below clip. So check it out below, and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot!

An extensive all access documentary examining the life and career of indie filmmaking icon Kevin Smith. Featuring never before seen interviews with friends, family, filmmaking peers, and icons of the film, comedy and comic worlds.

Clerk releases digitally on Tuesday, November 23rd.
