i can't see the pic because i'm at work, but i think this sounds so dumb. but then again, most anime series that are on regular TV are so dumbed down, kiddy, and idiotic, that they suck from the get go.

whatever happened to QUALITY anime, like Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell (the 2 movies, not the crap series), Vampire Hunter D, Escaflowne, Akira, Blue Gender, Samurai X, Demon City Shinjuku, Gundam Wing, Cowboy Bebop...y'know, movies and shows that MADE anime popular in the first place! Bleach, Naruto, Rouroni Kenshin, and all these silly and kiddy shows were the death of anime where i'm concerned.

for me, i got into anime because the stories were almost always complex and well thought out, they had likeable characters, and the animation was very detailed and top notch. but look at all these half-assed anime shows now. its whats popular in anime now, and i just don't get it. the quality of them is lower in every conceivable way. its a shame...

Ninja Scroll was Freakin' awesome, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop movie.

ummmm corndogburglar: Samurai X is Rurouni kenshin......... so you put it in two categories lol. rurouni kenshin isnt silly or kiddy either, go watch trust and betrayal. check out my article i posted. and their are tons of quality anime now a days, you just gotta know where to look, aka code geass, death note, fullmetal alchemist, gundam 00. if you want to blame this kddy stuff on one anime, go for dbz, not naruto or bleach, sure they are kind of kiddy shows at the start, but once u get into them, theyre really mature, bloody and violent and well thought out stories.

I hate ignorant people like you. You don't know jack about all those animes you mentioned and yet you spewed out all these ignorant and misinformed comments. Kiddy and idiotic? learn what those shows are all about before you open your dumb, ignorant and close-minded mouth. Bleach, Naruto and Kenshin are all more mature and bloody and has better animation quality than your DC and marvel cartoons. Now those are tame and dumbed down with shitty animation quality. Don't get it twisted, fool. You don't know shit. You probably haven't even watch an episode of those animes. I'm surprised that you even know about all those animes you thought are quality. Btw, Samurai X IS Rouroni Kenshin, genius. It's just a movie version of it. Shows how much you know. Therefore, your opinion are trash.

CorndogBurglar - 3/23/2010, 10:28 PM
@ joob

yes, i know Samurai X Trust and Betrayal are the MOVIES that came out before that shitty Rorouni Kenshin SERIES. yes, i realize they are about the same character, but Samurai X is very violent, bloody, and MUCH more for adults. the show that was on cartoon network just sucked and had crap animation compared to the Samurai X movies. so yes, i put them in two categories because they are VERY different. Samurai X would NEVER be able to be shown on Cartoon Network without heavy editing, which is all the proof in the world. the Samurai X movies, BEFORE he started using the reverse blade, is about him being an assassin and giving up his ways. the series was him AFTER he quit being an assassin, and it was much less hardcore.

and i don't mean to sound like i'm BLAMING those shows for what anime has become over the years, i totally agree that DBZ is the cause of it. they are just the bi-product.

and i would LOVE for you tell me about some new anime that has the same quality of the classics i mentioned! i quit caring about anime a couple years back, for the reasons i mentioned. if you can point me in the direction of some new anime thats got the same grittiness and old school tone i'm missing, i would appreciate it man!

@ Shawlong

first of all, i'll take those anime movies i named over ANY of the DC/Marvel animated movies any day of the week. not once did i say the DC/Marvel movies are better than anything. i compared new anime, with older anime, so i think YOU are the one getting things "twisted". read things a little more carefully, it'll help.

second, i own every single one of those movies i mentioned that are good. don't act like i don't know what i'm talking about because i don't like something you do.

third, if you think, for one minute, that Bleach or Naruto are on the same level as Akira, the original Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, or ANY of those movies i listed, then you are out of your goddamn mind. and that was the whole point of my comment. Anime isn't what it used to be.

fourth, like i told joob, yes, i realize Samurai X and the Kenshin series are about the same character. the series is AFTER the Samurai X movies. you can't honestly sit there and watch the Kenshin series and tell me its as violent, bloody, gritty and has the same quality animation as the Samurai X movies. not a chance in hell. the Kenshin series was on Cartoon Network, the Samurai X movies would NEVER be able to be played on Cartoon Network without HEAVY editing, that should tell you something right there. in the Sam X movie, there was one part where he's fighting a ninja, a he stabs him through the bottome of the head, and pulls his sword out through the middle of his face...are you really going to tell me that the Kenshin series is the same?? again, i think YOU are the one getting things twisted.

fifth, i gave Naruto, AND Bleach a chance when they first came out. i TRIED to like them, but after a few episodes, i couldn't take it anymore. sorry, but if i watch a show, and it still doesn't have my interest after the 3rd or 4th episode, i'm not going to keep wasting my time and watching it.

sixth, go [frick] yourself.

whatever man, i didn't come in here bad mouthing ANYONE for liking ANYTHING. i posted my opinion, just like YOU do in a LOT of articles (whether its a popular opinion or not), and this jackass started talking shit.

future generations of anime will always Surpass the previous ones whether u like it or not.........
and its not just in anime, its life dude...

CorndogBurglar - 3/24/2010, 5:01 AM
@autobot

i don't think thats true at all, thats my point, lol. the classics like the ones i mentioned are far superior than whats out now. in pretty much every conceivable way. when you compare story, and animation quality, none of these series come even close to the classics.

its all a matter of opinion though. i miss the classics that introduced anime to the United States, you guys clearly like the new stuff. no big deal. i'm not hating on anyone for it. i didn't think people like Shawlong would get so offended and start acting like a prick.

trust and betrayal came out after rurouni kenshin lol, so first just get your information straight.

Trust and Betrayal might have come out after the series, but it TAKES PLACE BEFORE THE SERIES. that better? my god, that isn't even the point of my posts...
autobotninja
autobotninja - 3/24/2010, 5:53 PM
it is a matter of opinion, but u say it like its a fact when it really isnt.....
and saying shows like naruto have bad story lines and inferior animation when you've only seen the first few episodes is just wrong.....
and I bet that the people who did the shows you like are probably working on naruto and bleach now.....
SolidSnake
SolidSnake - 3/24/2010, 7:28 PM
@MTL I like that they gonna make it, but the westernize version of it that is annoying me

@Autobot I knew it was a main stay for me at about the Chunin exam arc. Althought when Kakashi use the replacement technique for the first time that was awesome!

@Joob What is a good anime to check out? I'v been stuck on Naruto, they showing fillers at the moment and it will take a while for them to get past the Pain arc (thats when I stop reading which was like 2 years ago lol) I cbf reading the manga no more.

"sure they are kind of kiddy shows at the start, but once u get into them, theyre really mature, bloody and violent and well thought out stories. "

[frick] yeah totally agree, can't fault that at all.

@ autobot

well man, i don't know what else to say to you then. if i say i don't like something, then of course its an opinion, lol. i'm sorry if i didn't put, "in my opinion" before everything i said.

and i don't care who's working on what. if its done in a different style then it really doesn't matter. just because people might be working on bleach and naruto that worked on something from 15 years ago does't mean i have to automatically like what they're doing now. do you like every single movie that a certain actor is in, or that a certain director makes?? of course not.

no more american made live action anime it will be ruined just like dragonball evolution.
autobotninja
autobotninja - 3/26/2010, 2:34 AM

have faith that it wont.....

@ CorndogBurglar

no I dont and i do not expect you to do the same, all I meant to say was that when you bash the animation in naruto and bleach you bash the talented people behind your favorite shows.....
its fine to not like something but to go around saying it sucks when the majority of anime and manga fans disagree is wrong even if you say that its just your opinion because a real OPINION would be something like "i dont like the animation in naruto" or "I dont like the storyline in bleach"
Misterfan
Misterfan - 3/26/2010, 4:45 PM
C'mon ladies, its just animation. No need to kill yourselves with likes or dislikes. lol
Well i understand both views, but its really not fair if you haven't even made an attempt to read a manga and straight up diss it. If you have and don't like it fine and good, no need to make others who enjoy that form of art feel stupid for liking them, its just retarded. I have to admit, i used to hate anime with a passion until i tried them, they could be pretty entertaining.
As for bleach ... hmmm ... I don't know how they will pull this off, but its Warner Bros, they always do. When they pick up stuff like this, its usually good, plus they know the japs will be watching.

Sooo .. at the count of three lets all relax, okay.
one ...
two ...
three ...

There you go ladies :)

Mazoku - 4/5/2010, 6:35 PM
this movie is gonna b AWFUL lol.

the show is average at best its the usual friendship makes me stronger shit. Theres to many characters to many arcs and ZERO focus in the whole series it cant be adapted into a movie. If there is no goal at the beginning of the series u cant make a movie out of it.

Sorry MTL but none of those directors would want to touch that movie. Its a disaster waiting to happen in the proportion of DBZ

FMA has a focus and could make a great film and could possibly get the interest of a Jackson (unlikely) or Del Toro (also unlikely)

Cowboy Bebop is an incredible story with the greatest ending IMO in the history of media. The characters are few and the story is great and could make a fantastic film.

Thats all i can think of... maybe Monster would make a good film, Gantz could be okay, Darker than Black would need a lot of imagination and the director would have to change a lot to fit it into a few films, Sam X but not kenshin would be good, they already made Death Note live actions which were decent, Akira would b great, and so could Ghost in the Shell, but thats all i can think of that can make a good film.

just kinda putting this out there, but does anybody remember when tite kubo said he didn't want a live-action adaption of bleach? don't get me wrong, i still wanna see it though, but yeah <.<

davidl859 - 6/2/2010, 1:19 AM
ya i remember that but with the waybleach is going and not slowing down at all i can see why he would atleast try it out it wouldnt be a part of the main story anyways and if it is then it will most likely be a recap from start to were ichigo turns vasto lord (ressurection form) i can see them cramming that into a hour in a half movie just skip all minor details and half the talking
