New Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Trailer Proves The Anime Remake Is Way Bigger Than First Reported

It turns out Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is way bigger than a simple upscale. The latest trailer officially confirms that the new anime will keep rolling right into the Golden Frieza and Champa arcs, bringing Hit and the Universe 6 combatants back to the screen.

You can catch the full trailer below ahead of the October 11 premiere.

This confirms the rumor from back in August that the first 3 arcs of DBS would be receiving the Dragon Ball Z-Kai treatment.

The especially good news for anyone who struggled through Dragon Ball Super's slow start is that the new remake is trimming the fat.

The original anime dragged out the Beerus saga over 14 episodes, spent 13 on Golden Frieza, and took 19 to get through the Universe 6 tournament.

This time around? Rumors say we’re looking at just 6 episodes for Beerus, 6 or 7 for Frieza, and a tight 7 for the Champa arc. It’s a massive trim that should fix the pacing issues that bugged fans the first time around.

That pacing shift completely resolves the fluff that plagued the original broadcast and sets up Dragon Ball Super: Beerus to comfortably finish right before the Spring 2027 season begins.

The question on everyone's mind now is whether The Galactic Patrol aka Moro arc will begin in April or if the production team will take one or more cours/seasons off before the highly anticipated Super anime continuation begins.

Speaking back in April at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 event in Los Angeles, Dragon Ball executive producer Akio Iyoku explained the decision to remake the Beerus arc from the Dragon Ball Super anime, stating the goal is to, "express the world of Dragon Ball Super- Toriyama-sensei's creation, with more precision and accuracy. It's only been 10 years since 2015, but visual expression continues to evolve every day, and implementing those techniques was one of the goals of this production.  Specifically, we added extensive new cuts, improved the art quality, re-rendered all cuts, and fully re-constructed the story."

I've already made peace with the fact that from this point forward we are living in a new era of Dragon Ball. Different yet similar to how Star Wars has been in a new era since Disney, I'm okay with making the distinction and trying to be open minded about what comes next. I certainly still read comics with my favorite characters even after my favorite writer and artist leaves the book, and often enjoy the next teams unique vision. Toriyama gifted the world tremendous characters and took those characters on several wonderful arcs over the decades, and I was lucky to witness both the Lucas Star Wars era and the Akira Toriyama original runs of the Dragon Ball universe (and the Attitude Era of WWF!!!). I was spoiled rotten, when i think about it.

I hope the next era has many, many fun chapters ahead too!

I still don’t understand what this is.

They’re just remaking DBS?

@Havenless - Yes; basically. They're remaking the first 3 arcs (Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and the Universe 6 arc).
