As expected, Marvel Studios brought Avengers: Doomsday to D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and a new trailer—described as a "Special Look"—has just been released.
The sneak peek was revealed onstage by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr. (Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers) and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).
This is the same trailer that previously played exclusively in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, and it puts the spotlight squarely on Victor. As expected, he lost his wife and son, which has pushed him down a dark path that could spell, well, doom for the Multiverse.
The villain makes short work of Thor and raises an army of Sentinels to take the fight to the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. Crucially, the trailer also confirms that Doctor Doom hails from Earth-828, the same reality as Marvel's First Family.
Additional tickets went on sale earlier today, and this latest trailer confirms that several recent leaks (including an unfinished version of the Multiverse's Mightiest Heroes battling Doom-controlled Sentinels) were the real deal.
The Avengers: Doomsday portion of the Disney Showcase panel opened with a message from Deadpool & Wolverine star Hugh Jackman. In the video, which can be viewed below, Ryan Reynolds (who is off-camera) attempts to force the actor to convince Kevin Feige that they should be added to the movie's cast.
Between this and Reynolds' surprise appearance at Comic-Con, we can safely assume that they'll both appear in the movie this December (which has been rumoured for several months now).
