Avengers: Doomsday Pre-Sales Higher Than Reported; Spider-Man: Brand New Day Leads To MCU Surge On Disney+

Following reports that Avengers: Doomsday has sold over $40 million worth of pre-sale tickets, official data confirms it's much more than that. There's also increased interest in MCU content on Disney+.

Following reports that Avengers: Doomsday has racked up an impressive $40 million in ticket presales, Disney confirms those figures were outdated. Unsurprisingly, the movie is actually performing even better than that.

Hugh Johnston, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, The Walt Disney Company, announced at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference yesterday that domestic pre-sales for Avengers: Doomsday have crossed $50 million.

It's also been revealed that, thanks to Avengers: Doomsday marketing and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, August saw Marvel record its highest monthly hours in Disney+ history. Is the MCU back? It certainly feels that way.

According to official data shared by Disney, it's unprecedented for a movie to cross $50 million in pre-sales when there's still more than three months to go before release. 70% of sales have been Infinity Vision tickets for "the biggest and best screens."

Back to that Disney+ stat, Marvel recorded its highest hours in Disney+ history with over 420 million hours for the month. The total lift for Marvel titles in anticipation of Avengers: Doomsday is far and away the highest lift Disney+ has ever seen, driven by a theatrical release at over 200 million hours, and the movie is still months away.

While some have questioned whether the first half of the Multiverse Saga finale can top Spider-Man: Brand New Day's record-breaking box office success, the sheer level of excitement surrounding Avengers: Doomsday suggests it could become the biggest movie in history.

Of course, beyond a massive opening weekend, for that to happen, it needs to connect with audiences. Doing so ensures repeat viewings and positive word of mouth, both of which have massively benefitted Spider-Man's latest solo outing.

In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.

Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Mabel Cadena, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, India Rose Hemsworth, and Wesley Holloway all make their Avengers franchise debuts.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn join them, as do X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, along with Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18.

"Is the MCU back? It certainly feels that way." Huh. After years of being gaslit into believing that "superhero fatigue" was to blame, that "fatigue" has suddenly dissipated. I wonder why? 🤔
