Avengers: Doomsday's Anthony Mackie Raises Questions About Whether Steve, Sam, And Bucky All Survive

Anthony Mackie, Chris Evans, and Sebastian Stan reunited on the Avengers: Doomsday set to compare scripts and Stan dropped a very chilling question...

Marvel Studios struck gold when they brought together Chris Evans' Captain America, Sebastatin Stan's Winter Soldier , and Anthony Mackie's Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The narrative possibilities involving this trio of characters could play out several different ways when using the comics as a reference and for the most part, Kevin Feige and co. have charted those narrative waters brilliantly with Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

With Cap gone and Bucky and Sam going their separate ways to headline different franchises, it seemed like the band might be getting back together in Avengers: Doomsday but Mackie just raised a very concerning question in his most recent fan convention appearance at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga.

Marvel Studios never gives its cast the full script. In fact, Mackie had zero clue he was taking over the Captain America mantle in Endgame until Chris Evans literally pulled him aside and handed him the scene.

So when Evans, Mackie, and Sebastian Stan finally reunited on the set of Doomsday, the three immediately started comparing notes to piece together what was actually happening.

That's when Stan dropped a chill-inducing question: Which one of them is taking the fall this time?

Said Mackie, "Whenever Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan and I get together, it’s like a powwow, like, we’re boys in the corner hanging out, laughing, joking and talking about what’s happening. Then we stop, Sebastian looks at both of us and goes, ‘So, which one of us is gonna die?"

It’s a potentially ominous piece of foreshadowing that matches up perfectly with a rumor tearing through the internet right now. The word on the street is that Bucky might be the one meeting his end at the hands of Victor von Doom; a tragic sacrifice that finally forces Marvel’s fractured heroes to put aside their differences and team up to take down Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom once and for all.

In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday stars Downey, Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Wesley Holloway, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Alex Livinalli, and Mabel Cadena, with Tenoch Huerta Mejía.

The film is produced by Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.

@MarvelZombie616 - No; some permanent variants will die; like happened in Infinity War and Endgame.

Doom wants to make Steve suffer (and so do the Russo's) and witness failure. Bucky's going to die; it's his best friend. Especially if it's just a matter of one of the three.

Do you think Marvel would unalive Sam after the low reception of his Captain America?

@MonkeyBot - yes! He’s also the only one of the three without the SUPER soldier serum! Eventually that fact has to do him in.

How do you top half of the universe dying and coming back? Killing half of the Marvel universe and not having them come back

For the MCU to succeed, they need to kill off all of these characters and NEVER bring them back:
Sam Wilson, Rhodey, Isaiah Bradley, T'Challa Jr, Shuri, Okoye, Riri Williams, Rhodey, Monica Rambeau, Nick Fury, M’Baku, Nakia and Wonder Man

@Pampero - I'm actually interested in seeing a story of the young Isaiah Bradley. Perhaps ordered out of commission but secretly fighting crime behind the scenes. Would like a more comic accurate Wonderman.

Stan is a great actor; it's a shame more hasn't been done with Bucky.

Outstanding actor Stan who should be Captain America will die.
Good actor Falcon, but mediocre Cap Mackie will live.

It’s simple Hollywood pander math.

I really don't care who dies anymore

The only real way to return the shield to Cap is for Sam to die which will send X into a frenzy so that isn't happening. It would be a good story beat and give Sam an actual hero moment, similar to Steve and Tony's sacrifices but they can't write so...

I'm sure their will be perma deaths. I personally think Scott is a going to get got. I think they key is, do they bring RDJ/Tony back and can they get the big three back for another phase? I don't think they are recasting out of Secret Wars. If the three then, Bucky is most likely to get it but hes kind of big for the future of the Thunderbolts.

I’d love to see a scene with Steve, Sam, Bucky, Walker, and Red Guardian all together. Basically the 5 derivative Steve Rogers of the MCU.

@SheepishOne - would be great

I really want to see Red Guardian and Steve specifically given the former considered the latter his rival.

I think Stan was just saying that because the last Avengers film had 2 big hero deaths so he assumed we could get something similar here too which we might but that’s a wait & see…

Anyway , I do think it’s likely that Bucky dies out of the 3 since his arc seems the most complete but wouldn’t be surprised if he is revived in SW.
