Jeremy Renner Says Hawkeye Is Not In Avengers: Doomsday, "So The Avengers Will Probably Lose"

Jeremy Renner has now confirmed that his character will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday, joking that Hawkeye's absence will cause Earth's Mightiest Heroes to lose the battle against Doctor Doom...

The massive Avengers: Doomsday "chair reveal" featured several expected returnees, a number of names that had previously been rumored, and quite a few surprises. A lot of MCU actors were absent, however, including OG Earth's Mightiest Hero Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).

Renner will likely be back for Secret Wars, but the actor has now confirmed that we will not see Clint Barton in Doomsday.

“I’m not in [Avengers: Doomsday], so the Avengers will probably lose, just so you know… [Marvel] didn’t call me, so it’s their fault they’re going to lose,” the actor joked during an appearance at Comic Con Liverpool.

There was a big question mark over Renner while he was recovering from his near-fatal 2023 snowplough accident, but he has since returned to work, and it sounds like he is more than ready to bring Clint Barton out of retirement... again.

“I think he started retired… but he’s always pulled out of retirement, you know," The Mayor of Kingstown star told ComicBook.com last year. "I think he’s a family man; you always know where his allegiance lies, and he’s always come out of retirement, man. Until he’s killed, he’s always gonna be working.”

There's always a chance Renner did film something for Doomsday, but the character isn't mentioned in the recent plot leak, which is believed to be at least mostly accurate.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were hit with significant delays last year, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

"Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Doomsday will star:

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Florence Pugh as Yelena, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, and Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent

Along with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

He’s right… I mean they did lose to Thanos when he wasn’t in Infinity War.

He is and should be the one that always shows up at the end.
in 20 years it better still be Renner showing up as Hawkeye.
No recasting him.

That's really funny. It'll be even funnier when the movie comes out.
