AVENGERS: ENDGAME Iron Studios Thor Statue Shows Off The God Of Thunder's Awesome New Viking Warrior Look

During Avengers: Endgame's final battle, Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder undergoes a badass transformation and looks like a true Viking warrior. Now, a new statue reveals a much closer look at that...

Avengers: Endgame put a lot of our favourite heroes through the wringer and Thor was no exception. After beheading Thanos, the God of Thunder's life seemingly fell apart and by the time we caught up with him "Five Years Later," he had become an overweight drunk who was clearly still left reeling from the fact his one mistake contributed to all those deaths.

However, with both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir in his hands, Thor called down the lightning and transformed himself into a Viking warrior who wasted no time at all taking the fight to Thanos.

Now, Iron Studios has released its 1/4 Scale Thor statue for Avengers: Endgame and it provides an amazingly detailed look at the hero's new look. With any luck, this will be a permanent change for Thor but who knows how much he'll change by the time we catch up with him in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Time will tell but, in the meantime, hit the "View List" button to check out this gallery of images!

Not everyone has been happy about Thor's new look and I'm sure the Russo Brothers realised that this change ran the risk of being somewhat controversial. However, the pay off is worth it!

After all, Thor realising that he is still worthy is a big moment for the Asgardian and his entire arc sends a positive message in the respect that you don't need to look like a God in order to be a hero.

Stormbreaker and Mjolnir are two very powerful weapons and Thor seems to take great delight in bringing the hammer back with him from the past and it means we got to see Captain America use it!

One of Avengers: Endgame's funniest moments comes when Thor and Captain America actually swap hammers (the God of Thunder points out to Steve Rogers that he should take the "little one").

The signs are all pointing to Thor now making the leap to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and it will be very interesting seeing what James Gunn does with the God of Thunder as part of that team.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Trinity stands tall here but if you want to get all three of these statues, you'd best get saving now because they will set you back thousands of dollars in total.

"It is one of the best moments ever when Thor lands in Wakanda with Stormbreaker, and with Groot and Rocket by his side, ready to kill Thanos," Avengers: Endgame executive producer Trinh Tran says. "He gets his chance but fails, and it really takes its toll on him. He is devastated."

"He feels like he’s failed his people," Trahn continues. "He failed himself, and he failed to really save the universe when he didn’t defeat Thanos." That obviously goes some way in explaining his transformation and the fact the God of Thunder now spends his days living with Korg and Miek.

"Thor: Ragnarok was Thor at his wackiest, Infinity War was Thor at his best and most heroic and Endgame is probably Thor at his worst," Chris Hemsworth explains in Disney's production notes.

"Mentally, emotionally, physically, every aspect of Thor is broken," the Australian actor continues. "He is lost and uncertain. So, it is a whole new journey, and it felt like I was playing a completely different character. I felt freer than I’ve ever felt before because there were no rules at this point."

"It was a real opportunity to just kind of swing for the fences, and if I had been given this character two or three years earlier, I think I would’ve dropped the ball in a big way. It sort of happened at a perfect time in terms of my development as a human being and as an actor. I was able to tap into some interesting things that I hadn’t looked at before. And that was great. I loved it."

"When we started thinking about Thor and how he would move forward into this film, we took into consideration that he has suffered tremendous loss," explains co director Joe Russo.

"More so than any other character in the sense that Asgard has been destroyed and now he has to suffer the loss to Thanos. It inspired us to think about how a person like that, who has suffered two devastating losses, moves forward? He’s carrying more pain than anybody else is. And how would he process that? That tension and inner light that he still carries ends up growing throughout the film in a very rousing way and is perhaps the most entertaining part of the film."

It's interesting to get this insight from those involved with the movie as it's clear that a lot of thought was put into Thor's story arc and it wasn't simply about making fun of the fact he'd gained weight!

The details on this statue really is incredible and it's amazing that stuff like this didn't leak beforehand, especially after we saw so many pieces of concept art (featuring the God of Thunder's old look).

There's no denying that this would look awesome on any shelf but it's certainly a pricey collection and that's going to stop many fans from being able to pick these up. However, Iron Studios is also releasing 1/10 statues which are a little more affordable and actually just as cool in many ways.

Regardless of what comes next for Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Russo Brothers have left him in a very interesting place and we'll hopefully get to see Taika Waititi at the helm of another solo movie somewhere down the line. For now, though, he's pretty busy with helming Akira

I’ve liked Thor throughout his time in the MCU. But this look, minus the gut, is what we should have had from the start.

I wonder if any of the props from the MCU will ever be donated to the Smithsonian like the hat, whip, & jacket from Indiana Jones.

Wait, people don't like this Thor? That's the first I've heard of that.

@TanukiTrooper - they say cause it didn’t make sense as a character arc for him, as if thor can’t be depressed. He hit his breaking point, since his arc in MCU constantly has him losing anything he cares about

@ShimmyShimmyYA - So Thor in a matter of a few days lost in order his dad, his hammer, 3 of his best friends, the majority of his people, his home, half of his people that survived Hela, his best friend, and then his brother. Then in his moment of glory and vengeance being able to fix his mistakes by killing Thanos and saving the universe. Thanos steals that away with a snap of his fingers. Then when they track down Thanos and capture him to try and undo his destruction they learn Thanos destroyed the Infinity Stones to make sure no one can undo what he has done. Thor seeing every one of his losses is a the result of his failings as a hero, a warrior, and a king is anyone surprised he crawled into a bottle and lived there for the next 5 years?

I really like Thor's beefy viking design in Endgame

Great detail. However...the Thor films never really did it for me since they strayed too far from the comic book source. And why the hell didn't we get Enchantress and Balder the Brave. And making Hela Thor's sister...WTF ?!
