AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Tom Holland Seemingly Confirms A Popular Theory About The Movie - SPOILERS

It looks like Tom Holland confirmed a popular theory about the plot of Avengers: Endgame... a year ago! The Spider-Man actor seemingly let something important slip during a recently resurfaced interview...

A video interview with Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland from April of last year has begun doing the rounds online again, and with good reason.

The pair spoke to Access while promoting Avengers: Infinity War, but during the chat, questions inevitably turned to the follow-up, which directors Joe and Anthony Russo shot at the same time.

At one point, Holland - who is notorious for spoiling details about these Marvel movies - says that Cumberbatch's lines are a lot more difficult to learn than his because his character has to talk about so much "Quantum Realm stuff." The Doctor Strange star then jumps in with, "stuff... just stuff!"

Since the Quantum Realm is not mentioned once by Strange - or anyone else, for that matter - in Infinity War, it's reasonable to assume that Holland is referring to Endgame, which means... well, you know what that means!

Check out the interview for yourselves below. The pertinent chatter comes in around the 5:30 mark.

After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

The way Ben doesn’t intervene that abruptly or outrageous make me think Tom was genuinely wrong about “quantum realm stuff”

I remember the interview and it was odd to hear about the Quantum Realm at the time, now I wonder... but it seems obvious that they're involving that in some way, Scott's driving with the damn thing in the van lol. Maybe Bruce figures out how to use it? Unless if Rocket and Tony show up lol

@bobevanz - yeah we are one thousand percent getting quantum realm shenanigans
Feige said as much when he stressed the importance of quantum realm a few years back
Capt marvels powers are connected to quantum realm (I think I read that, unless I imagined it)

And... The only reason Scott got stuck in and then got out of the quantum realm... Is to guide the avengers back in!

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say he's [frick]ing with us. He knows we all know he spoils stuff. So he's clearly heard about that from Kevin Feige, and the way Dr Strange doesn't cut him off SUPER fast is suspicious. Also the quantum realm playing a role isn't spoiler at this point. Marvel has toys for Endgame out showing the quantum realm suits.

@TheBeard -
The spoiler is not the Quantum Realm, but the fact Doctor Strange returns and is alive to talk about it and that Tom Holland was either involved in that scene as Peter/Spider-man OR observed because he was filming that day also.

It's further confirmation of who is getting revived via the snap being undone.

@Scarilian - But Strange wouldn't need to talk Quantum talk to Parker would he... maybe explaining it to Stark.

@JonC -
It could easily be a scene set in the Soul Stone, speculated as where all the 'snapped victims are' where they are trying to think of methods of escape. Remember that Hank Pym, Janet van Dyne and Hope van Dyne were all 'dusted' also - could easily be discussing with them. Peter could just be in the scene but not the primary person the discussion is with.

Is it the same time travel machine that we see in Deadpool 2?

@Forthas -
• Avengers Endgame began filming in August 2017.
• Disney announced a definitive agreement to buy Fox on December 14th 2017
• Filming for Avengers Endgame concluded on January 11th 2018 with additional filming occuring in New York afterwards.

Disney would have been in talks with Fox prior to the definitive agreement being announced and during those talks they would have likely mentioned the idea of merging the franchises smoothly as they would want to make the most of the newly acquired characters as soon as possible while continuing the success of movies such as Deadpool and Logan.

Deadpool 2 already planned to include Cable and the Time Travel method Cable used was already decided upon, however visual similarities would likely be agreed upon to be used in Avengers Endgame. This prepares the audience for a potential merger of the franchises.

These similarities would make a future retcon easier, such as claiming that Cable uses the Quantum Realm Time Travel method. This would allow X-Force (cancelled on January 11, 2019) to be picked up in the MCU.

@Forthas - it was shot in the 80s, prior to CM, and those are Swatches...

@Forthas - Circles on hands is bit of a stretch to look for crossovers.

Regardless of intention, it could be retconned (like Iron Man 2 Peter Parker). And while I have zero interest in invoking a multiverse smush-up to get Fox's properties into the MCU, I can live with it being used for Cable and Deadpool (even though I think they could get more mileage out of a reboot anyway).

Making X-Force into effectively the Exiles works for me. Cable, Deadpool, and (at a push) maybe Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Domino are fine. But let's not go nuts. Let the series play out how it will, but I don't need to see these characters all that integrated into the Avengers proper or anything.
