Early AVENGERS: ENDGAME Drafts Saw Wanda Survive "The Snap" And Go On A Road Trip With Rocket

Just like they did with Avengers: Infinity War last night, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have shared some intriguing new Avengers: Endgame details during a Quarantine Watch Party...

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were clearly kicking around a lot of ideas for both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame that ultimately never came to fruition, and one of them revolved around Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) surviving Thanos' "snap."

During tonight's Quarantine Watch Party, the writers were asked if any of the heroes that were willed out of existence at the end of Infinity War were originally going stick around for the follow-up, and Markus revealed that there are "whole drafts" featuring Scarlet Witch going on a road trip with Rocket Raccoon!

Apparently, this plot thread was dropped because after everything that happened with Wanda and Vision in the previous film, it felt like "wheel spinning." Markus doesn't elaborate, but as fun as spending time with this unlikely duo would no doubt have been, with so much going on in this movie it's not hard to imagine it ultimately being seen as superfluous.

The movie has just finished, so be sure to check back for more tidbits from Markus and McFeely.

Wonder which stone she would have been sent for, could have been the soul stone, considering it was used to give her power, while Cap and Tony go straight to the military base or a hydra base in world war 2 and hulk and antman get the time stone

Definitely could have had an emotional trip for Wanda if she had to retrieve the Mind Gem from sometime during Age of Ultron, knowing that Pietro was going to die and Vizh was going to be created.

No idea what the roadtrip would have entailed though.

Probably the most boring hero in the MCU.

I've heard this before. Might not be the first time this has been posted here.

I like the teaming of Thor and Rocket. It worked out in both movies. So I think they made the right choice.

I think it would have been nice if they kept one of the newer Avengers alive from the snap, to make it seem a bit more realistic that it wasn't just (conveniently) the OG Avengers who survived.

But I also did like the idea that it was only the OG Avengers who survived, with the stakes being to do whatever they can to bring everyone else back (and the end of an era thing). So I don't know.

like how they go for the pairs that really don’t make sense on paper

I'm always up for more screen time for Wanda, but it's probably for the best she didn't get the five years to heal from losing Vision. That wound will be fresh for her solo series (and whatever comes later).
