Editorial: If Avengers: Endgame Had Post-Credits Scenes

Here's my summary on what would've happened if Marvel's Avengers: Endgame had post-credits scenes as with every other MCU film and how they would've foreshadowed the future of the MCU

For the past 11 years, Marvel Studios has become known for using post-credits scenes that either foreshadows a future film of the MCU or features something comedic. Other times, it resolves a plotline that leaves on a cliffhanger before the credits. But with Avengers: Endgame, it does not have any mid-credits or post-credits scenes. Instead, the end of the credits include a sound similar to Tony Stark forging his armor in the very first film of the MCU --- Iron Man(2008).

What if that sound is someone building something such as Beta Ray Bill forging his own hammer? Or perhaps after making Valkyrie queen of Asgard, Thor decides that she needs a new weapon and is making her a hammer of her own?

Now that the Disney-Fox merger has been finalied, that hammering could be a way to hint at the inclusion of some of the previously unowned characters that the MCU will use in the near future such as Doctor Doom. With Thanos dead, There will be a new big bad that the MCU needs for Phases Four-Six. And no-one is bigger and badder than Doctor Victor Von Doom. In the comics, he's known for being the main foe of the Fantastic Four. Hr also has built a iconic suit of armor with a metal mask to hide his scarred body during an experiment for which he blames Reed Richards(Also known as Mr. Fantastic).

Perhaps, after the fall of the Avengers and all of their time meddling, Doom has found his way to the core reality of the MCU and decided that it was the perfect time to take over their measly world. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously stated that Marvel's 5-year Phase 4 plan will reportedly not include the X-Men. But it may seem likely that the Fantastic Four will take a slot within the next Phase of the MCU.

However, if they were to have actual post-credits scenes in Endgame, they would have 5 scenes in the credits like they did with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. 2 of them would've foreshadowed the X-Men and Fantastic Four will soon be coming to the MCU. Some of them would also  foreshadow Spider-Man: Far From Home, Harley Keener taking over Tony Stark's role as Iron Man and  have Steve Rogers having the dance with Peggy Carter after returning to the '40s.

Scene 1: Foreshadowing Spider-Man: Far From Home,   a crowd of people watches the television in sadness as the news of Tony Stark's death is announced accross the world as Quentin Beck takes delight plessure and smiles.

Scene 2: In the wake of Tony Stark's death, Harley Keener(Ty Simpkins) is given a tour in Stark Industries by Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts. He is really amazed by the Stark Foundation that kids are giving and even sees the Vision's shell in the Cradle(which was last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron), but Happy pulls him away and tells him that if he receives the Stark Foundation, he would carry on the mantle of Iron Man. Keener happily accepts "I couldn't agree more".

Scene 3: Four astronauts, Reed Richards(John Kraninski), Sue Storm(Mandy Moore), Johnny Storm(Ross Lynch) and Ben Grimm(Seth Rogen) are on the radio, although it has become static. They have found a way to travel into the Quantum Realm. Their  shuttle flight  has went off course. Sue spots "a light". Ben tells everyone to strap in. As "the light" hits the ship, screams are heard and the radio becomes static again as the scene fades to black.

Scene 4: In a comedic scene, upon returning to 1949, Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter catch up on a restaurant as  Carter asks where he was. Rogers replies "Someplace I didn't fit in". When a band comes on stage and starts to play a song, Carter tells Rogers that it is time to enjoy the date. He replies, happy with his new life with Peggy "Best date's right on time".

Scene 5: A man in the shadows is walking down the street when two muggers walk up to him and demand that they give him his wallet. The man(revealed to be Logan(Daniel Radcliffe) steps out of the shadows and dismisses them rudely,   The muggers draw out a gun and shoot him. As he says "That's it", claws come out of his hands as the scene fades to black.

What do you think of these post-credits scenes in Marvel Studios's Avengers: Endgame?

5 after credits scenes for a movie that perfectly concludes the Infinity Saga??

There's a reason why there is no after credits. What we got in the credits was the best choice.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Maybe you're right. But wouldn't any fan have wanted post-credits scenes at the conclusion of the Infinity Saga that would've hinted at the MCU's future beyond Endgame and Far From Home? We never got to see any build-up to the films and TV shows beyond Steve Rogers passing the torch to Sam Wilson I suggested. These scenes would've helped the film garner a almost perfect 99% which is 2% higher than Black Panther's tomatometer score.

HeavyMetal4Life - 4/27/2019, 6:23 PM
@brodie999 - no. This is the end of this saga, of some of these character's journey. Adding in after credits scenes would have taken away from the impact of how things end in the movie. We got the best possible conclusion to the film, I'd take what we got in the credits any day over some unnecessary after credits scene (and I'm a huge fan of MCU after credits scenes).

And a movie doesn't raise a few percentage points on Rotten Tomatoes because of presence or absence of after credits scenes buddy...

brodie999 - 4/27/2019, 7:54 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - Yeah, but it never got to show the future of the MCU in the credits. That's why I created this article to show how it would've played out if Endgame DID have post-credits scenes no matter the presence or absence of after credits scenes or tomato meter scores. Some people would take after credits scenes in the MCU any day.

These credits scenes would've showed some of the character's new beginnings after Endgame. They wouldn't have taken away from how things end as you think they would/

HeavyMetal4Life - 4/27/2019, 7:59 PM
@brodie999 - we got enough hints in the movie itself to know where things go forward from here from some heroes. Another reason why additional scenes at the end of the movie were unnecessary.

And yes, after credits would have taken away from the impact of this film. Endgame is the end, its the conclusion to the first decade. THAT is why we had no after credits scenes. Not sure why this isn't overly obvious. The tribute we got in the credits was the PERFECT way for the movie to handle the credits.

There is a time and a place for after credits scenes. This is the one film where they are inappropriate. Sorry buddy, you're wrong here. Just be appreciative of everything this film was able to accomplish and all that these characters and actors have given us all these years.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Okay, I respect your opinion. We'll just leave each other be and we won't have to argue about our beliefs.

I think, if Endgame had to have one, it should’ve been of Steve and Peggy dancing. Maybe the bench scene also could’ve been one too.
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/28/2019, 1:13 AM
@MalseMarcel - Those are really good suggestions. What do you think of my suggestions for post-credits scenes?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/28/2019, 3:30 AM
@brodie999 - they are good thought out set-ups, but I think Endgame would be better off with a scene closing up one of its own stories (like Black Panthers mid credit scene) than set something up for the future.

I also think the Fantastic Four might get their powers from the Quantum Realm. Although not directly related to Doom, I think he will at one point wield all Infinity Stones. Getting the Stones from the alternate timeline where Thanos finished in 2014
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/28/2019, 2:30 PM
@MalseMarcel - Well, Vision was never seen in Endgame, only briefly indirectly mentioned because he died in Infinity War. So I thought I'd close off that story in the next film by foreshadowing the WandaVision series at the same time. And I am closing off another one of its stories with Sam Wilson training to carry on the mantle of Captain America. It deserved to have more build-up in the credits.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/28/2019, 3:39 PM
@brodie999 - I agree it could’ve used some set-up, but just not as an additional scene in the credits. Endgame is supposed to be the final chapter in the infinity saga, so teasing a made for streaming show would just seem weird to me. I do like the Vision shell in the cradle thing especially though
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/28/2019, 9:17 PM
@MalseMarcel - Well, it's made by Marvel Studios. And it stars some of the obscure heroes who never got the spotlight. So you got any other ideas about the Falcon and Winter Soldier and Scarlet Witch post-credits scenes where the Vision shell is in the cradle? You think they should be used as comedic scenes? If so, what would your scene description for them?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/29/2019, 2:25 AM
@brodie999 - I would just leave them out. It already teased enough before the credits started. The only scene that I think would’ve fit in the credits was one we already ended the movie with. And that is of Steve and Peggy dancing
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/29/2019, 1:39 PM
@MalseMarcel -Okay. I'll change the Falcon and Winter Soldier scene to that of Steve and Peggy dancing and then proposing to each other. But I'll leave the other scenes as they are.
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/29/2019, 2:53 PM
@MalseMarcel - There. I've changed 2 scenes to fit the tone of Endgame like Harley Keener becoming Iron Man and and Steve Rogers proposes going on a date with Peggy Carter while they're dancing.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/29/2019, 3:04 PM
@brodie999 - damn, those are so much better. “A place I didn’t fit in” is such a Cap thing to say
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/29/2019, 3:49 PM
@MalseMarcel - Thanks for agreeing with me. It'd show how much Cap feel like the 40s is all he knew and he couldn't adapt to the new world he was in.
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/29/2019, 7:12 PM
@MalseMarcel - Hey, Malse. What do you think of the other lines like Quentin Beck, Harley(the kid from Iron Man 3) and Wolverine saying "He wouldn't want any part of that", "I couldn't be connected with him more" and "Look, bub. Don't make me gut you" and the other Cap line "Time we had that date" in these post-credits scenes?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 4/30/2019, 1:37 AM
@brodie999 - those are also pretty cool. Although I dont know yet what kind of characters Mysterio is gonna be, so we’ll just leave it at that
brodie999
brodie999 - 4/30/2019, 3:19 PM
@MalseMarcel - Agreed. Until Far From Home comes out, we'll leave this article as it is.

Are you some sort of small child? These scenes are something else.
brodie999
brodie999 - 5/1/2019, 1:07 AM
@JoshuaGJustice - Relax, man. I was disappointed Marvel never wanted to have post-credits scenes in Endgame, so I had to create an article on what would've happened if it did have post-credits scenes. I've gotten so used to Marvel having post-credits scenes I thought one day they'll do a remake and know who to call to include 5 post-credits scenes.

noahthegrand - 5/7/2019, 9:00 PM
I really liked Endgame, but it is interesting to think what an end credits scene would be for that movie. I think you have a good idea of what the next phase could entail and your stuff gets that across so... cool!
brodie999
brodie999 - 5/8/2019, 2:27 PM
@noahthegrand - What's even better? I created a new petition to remake some of the MCU films that were already made with extra post-credits scenes. What do you think?
