AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Be Released As A Standalone Movie; AVENGERS 4 Now "Untitled"

Disney has updated their release schedule today, confirming that Avengers: Infinity War is still coming as planned, but now as a standalone movie. What does this mean for "Part II"? Read on for details.

The Wrap has revealed that Avengers: Infinity War will now "exist as one movie" after confirming with Disney that they've updated their release schedule. Avengers: Infinity War (previously titled Avengers: Infinity War - Part I) is the official title of the next instalment, while Avengers: Infinity War Part II has now become "Untitled Avengers." Both of them will still be released in 2018 and 2019 as planned.

Of course, just because Avengers: Infinity War is now one movie, that doesn't mean that the team's battle against Thanos won't still unfold over both instalments. Still, it's worth bearing in mind that the Russo Brothers have previously said that these are going to be two standalone stories rather than a single one handled the same way as when The Hunger Games and Harry Potter franchises wrapped up.

More details will hopefully be revealed soon, but for now, we do at least know that the next instalment will simply be titled Avengers: Infinity War. What could possibly top that? Share your thoughts below.

@prettynucIear - How is "Infinity War" not epic?

I think the main Avengers will be defeated in Part 1, and then Avengers 4, which could be titled something along the lines of "New Avengers" has the likes of Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Strange etc taking up the main roles while the og Avengers are the support.

Just a thought.

@BatmanHeisenberg - I really think that's what they're gonna do, as well. Take the the original line up out of the picture for most of Avengers 4 and have guys like Spidey, Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and possibly the Guardians and Ant-Man take center stage. Have the original team come back during the end. Maybe kill some of them off.

@SupahSmashBro - The Avengers will probably get [frick]ed so hard in Infinity War so the remaining alive Avengers either lick their wounds or recruit. I could see Cap taking on the role of recruiting new Avengers.

@BatmanHeisenberg - No, I think were gonna see something similar to.what your saying, but In a diferent multi verse, type situation. I'm guessing we may see new members across the board down the road.. Maybe, maybe no .

@BatmanHeisenberg - but, we need to have an arc in our story. if the movie were like you say, then the removal of "part 1" and "part 2" is irrelevant.

if the avengers just get [frick]ed up, then what was the point of avengers 3? to watch heroes fail. now don't get me wrong, it can be done (tesb) BUT a "loss" ending almost always fails. the death of superman. the non-ending civil war had. attack of the clones *barf*

you're probably right, but im hoping this movie stands on its own. if the heroes fail, it better be [frick]ing good or imma tear it apart and say "this was just infinity war part 1"

@BatmanHeisenberg - I could see Cap dying, and then Bucky or Tony recruiting the new guys. In fact, I wouldn't be upset if all of the original Avengers (plus War Machine since he's been around since Phase 1) just were obliterated. Literally destroyed. Gone.

Then the New Avengers form (Captain America II, Falcon, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Wasp) and then when they defeat Thanos somehow bring them back. Since little kids and fanboys would piss their pants if those OG Avengers were dead.

@BatmanHeisenberg - don't think Marvel is into killing off their heroes. At least not yet. If so I think they would have killed war machine in Civil War. I mean I would rather it be Pepper, or Jane or even Hawkeye's family, something like that. I think with these characters, at this point, they hurt those around them more with their Avenging than the hurt themselves.

That being said I do think the Avengers will lose, badly, in Infinity War and the next one will incorporate more characters like Dr. Strange, Captain Marvel, The Guardians and at least Blackbolt if not more Inhumans. Lets face it, the Avengers roster as it stands cannot hope to stand a chance against the likes of Thanos. Plus I'm sure he'll have an army with him as well. They're going to need help. More powerful than we have seen in the MCU up to this point. Beyonder type help possibly; that can lead into a Secret Wars movie. That's the one where heroes should start dying. Everybody is fair game for the chopping block. By that time the MCU should be really well developed and they can pull off an event like this.

@90caliber - Avengers infinty War, then Avengers: Enter the Beyonder, and then just Secret Wars. You can't call it an Avengers movie because it will be so much more than that.

Is pretty clear that is the reason why they put Captain Marvel in between "The Infinity Movies" and why they put Thor: Ragnarok before that movies.

Because at the end is clear, in Ragnarok they will clear the way to Thanos and with Captain Marvel they could deal with how the Avengers are made into pieces and they have to join together again to try to survive and Avenge....

Also if they do this thing, of the two part movie, who happens some months after...

Then, they could split in a great way the 30-40 characters they have to deal with, leaving a first movie with 20 characters and the next one being the revange...

Interesting. Both Justice League and Infinity War started as two-parters but are now stand alone movies. I don't care for two part movies generally so this is cool for me!
