You were probably disappointed if you were hoping to see Adam Warlock in Avenger: Infinity War. The character had a big role in the comic book counterpart, The Infinity Gauntlet - fans had every reason to speculate on Adam's appearance. However, the character was never slated to appear in the film.

That didn't stop fans, there was some hope Adam could show up in the untitled Avengers 4 movie. Now, Joe and Anthony russo confirmed the character will not appear in the next Avengers film.

“Yeah [Adam Warlock]’s not showing up in our stories,” Joe revealed. “Our job as we said a million times is to tell the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not to do direct adaptations of the comics because we’re comic book fans.”

The director goes on to explain that a good mystery is always appreciated.

“If I know all the events story as they’re going to happen then what’s the point of going to the film?” he continued. “We want to keep surprising audiences and continue the story that started with Iron Man […] a decade ago.”

James Gunn has also stated that we might not see the character in 2020's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Whenever Adam shows up, fans will surely cheer.

Were you expecting Adam Warlock at all?

The newer run of Guardians of the Galaxy with him makes me think he'll be used for the skrulls, just a maybe lol
"Adam noticed the beginnings of another anomaly and led the team out to deal with it. After some distrust between the team on account of Skrulls being found on Knowhere, Starlord agreed for the team to remain in their quarters for questioning. This was unacceptable to Adam, who was assured when joining that the Guardians would answer to no one while they repaired the Universe.

Adam sneaked off and went to the neural core of Knowhere, where remaining brain functions of the Celestial still remained. He was able to locate the Skrulls through this and soon found that Cosmo had been guarding them. Once the rest of the team arrived, they all soon learned that the Skrulls were trying to escape the Skrull Empire, as they were pacifist and wanted nothing to do with the Skrulls's invasion of Earth." Maybe lol, I wonder how big a role the skrulls will have in Captain marvel

I'm fine with Warlock not being in an Avengers film. Without the gem on his head, what's the point? His story could be told as a trilogy of it's own, and should be, maybe even without Thanos. Thanos' defeat could be Adams beginning.

Didn’t think he would be. He’s clearly gonna be one of if the not THE villain for Vol. 3. I’m sure he’ll join the team after but his inclusion isn’t just gonna be somethrow away thing they clearly have plans for him in the Gaurdians series
