AVENGERS: ENDGAME Has Officially Been Rated PG-13 By The MPAA, But What For?

Certified by the MPAA, Marvel's Avengers: Endgame has received a PG-13 rating. And with the film finally locked, finished and ready for release, fans are dreading the longest three weeks in history...

After a long day of press, Anthony and Joe Russo finished up what is sure to be one of the most significant events in film history. With box office tracking going through the roof, and fans spending several hours a day anticipating the epic, Avengers: Endgame has the makings of a cinematic event that won't be topped for decades.

With the film locked and ready for the release, it is common practice for studios to send their films out to the MPAA for ratings certification. As expected, the film has earned a PG-13 rating from the association, but what for? The certification cites Endgame's "sequences of sci-fi voilence and action and some language" as the reason behind the rating.

Compared to Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame's result is not much different, albiet a bit shorter than the former's "Intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references."

Though not in this case, the Avengers franchise has had trouble with the MPAA in the past. In fact, Coulson's death almost gave Joss Whedon's 2012 predecessor and Phase One culmination an R rating instead of the PG-13 MPAA certification it ultimately received.

Are you excited to see what Endgame has in store? Of course you are. Sound off below.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Good god damn, man.

They ripped our hearts out of our chests with Infinity War.

But Endgame is gonna just take our hearts out, rip them ventricle by ventricle, shove them back in our chests, hit us with 360 joules.

And they are just going to rip them out of our chests again.

Hey, by the way. Have you been watching Doom Patrol?

THEY BROUGHT IN DANNY THE STREET!!!!!!! I f*cking LOST it.

@bropous - yes, and there were some really neat aspects of Danny the Street and how they brought that to life, but there were other aspects I really did not like, especially the musical. I thought it was the worst episode of the season.

@HeavyMetal4Life - DUDE. I saw all the episodes released to date, and I binge watched them ALL today again (I'm confined to my bed for the Doc until Wednesday). You know, I was never a fan of Doom Patrol. But they just did not cross my radar. Simply did not.

But, there was this unbelievably just impossible character to imagine: Danny The Street. I did a little reading up on Doom Patrol and their various rosters after the WONDERFUL Doom Patrol episode on Titans.

And for me, I am torn as to whom my favorite character is in this series so far. Cliff/Robotman, LOVE what they are using Mr. Fraser to bring this character forward. Rita, wow. But, the young actress who plays Crazy Jane x64, WOW. THAT is an INCREDIBLE acting range.

But I nearly shart myself when the agent first walks into the street, and a banner flies across the street, "Welcome, Friend". To me, the best episode so far, but ain't one damned episode that is eclipsed by it. Cyborg is drawn out SO well. And so is Larry, fighting for an understanding with the energy being inside him.

But, some weird-assed stuff which is SO cool. Donkey farts? A cockroach preaching to a rat about the Apocalypse? Love how they are going back and forth from Mr. Nobody acting as the fourth-wall breaking Greek chorus/Narrator.

But seriously. I thought that Danny was so freaking absurd and out there, the character had no chance of being portrayed in live action. And THESE folks made it WORK.

Awesome, absolutely phenomenal show.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I hear ya. But, those scenes brought out some depth to Larry's conflicted character. And Cliff trying to find ANYONE help him get connected to his daughter's "Facehole" account?

Just an incredible show. And who knows? Billy Batson and Freddie walking down Larry the Street and having absolutely ZERO concept of what is going on?

@bropous - today's episode I liked much, much more than last week's.

As of now, Doom Patrol is a tier 2 comic book show. Its really good and awesome, but its not without its 'flaws.'

@HeavyMetal4Life - Dude, the relationship between Cliff and "Jane
[nudge nudge wink wink] made me CRY. That episode touched base on SO many levels for me. Never been in there, but they WENT there. And, man, they actually brought us DANNY THE STREET!!!! To me, one of the most bizarre characters in all of comic books. But they DI IT.

The Underground. I really, REALLY wish that Cliff had not only gone down there to save Jane, but he also reached out for Karen. I love BOTH those female characters. However, I am biased. The actress who portrays those characters is a dead-ringer for my fiancee.

So, a special place in my heart for ALL of Jane's personalities.

@dethpillow Buddy, if you have not seen "Doom Patrol", drop it all and just watch every episode to date, in sequence. It is the incredibly quirky, inventive, original twists on a superhero shows I have seen to date.

HOWEVER.

IT DOES NOT PLAY FAIR.

They used David Bowie's "Lazarus" at the end of one episode.

Then, they used Lou Reed's "Perfect Day". in another.

They used X!!!! Exene Xervenka in a mosh pit scene!!!

Y'all, you have GOT to give "Doom PAtrol" a watch from the first episode to let the characters BUILD on you. Understand the bizzare, twisted world. Mr. Nobody. Rita. Larry. Cliff. "Jane". And, yes. Cyborg.

Y'all, if you have missed out on this, go on a binge.

ALL of you are going to LOVE Doom Patrol.
