AVENGERS: ENDGAME IMAX Version On Disney+ Reveals A Previously Missed Key Detail From The Final Act

Disney+ recently added IMAX versions of several MCU movies to the streaming service, and eagle-eyed fans have already noticed something in Avengers: Endgame that you'll have missed in the widescreen cut.

Earlier this week, Disney+ announced that IMAX versions of thirteen Marvel Studios movies would be added to the streaming service. Just like in IMAX theaters, that means viewers will see 26% more of the action playing out on screen, something that does make a difference (especially if a filmmaker has shot parts of their movie specifically with IMAX cameras).

These enhanced versions only arrived on Disney+ yesterday, but eagle-eyed fans have already noticed key details anyone who didn't watch these MCU titles in IMAX would have missed. Among them is a key scene in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

As the recently departed Tony Stark delivers that pre-recorded message to his daughter, Morgan, the IMAX ratio reveals that along with Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan, Steve Rogers/Captain America and Thor were also present. Now, the could be seen in the widescreen version of Avengers: Endgame from the chest down, but we certainly didn't pay much attention to them before now.

It's amazing what a difference just seeing their faces makes, and it actually adds quite a bit to this moment. After all, Steve and Thor were two of Iron Man's closes allies and friends, and were there right alongside him for that battle with Thanos.

It will be interesting to find out what else is discovered in the weeks to come, and while we're not expecting anything as major as this, you never know what you might stumble across.

Is it just the Disney plus version? iTunes did this a while back with BvS and it did make a noticeable difference imo so I hope they update the version on other platforms too

@Ha1frican - right?? I have all these on iTunes and they’ve since updated with highlighted characters in each as well as the 4k upgrade more recently.
Here’s hoping they update to these imax versions too!
I suspect it will be a reason to get D+ and exclusive😣

I never even noticed them standing back there. I was just so focused on Happy. Been there since the very beginning, so ofcourse it was sad to see him sad.

Rhodey and Peter should have been there instead

Eh, I wouldn't have really noticed them much even if that was in the normal widescreen version. That moment was for Pepper and Morgan.

I like how in the normal version it looks like two random dudes watching.

I'm glad Steve and Thor were there, and love how Endgame emphasised the Big 3 together in general. One last time.

I feel like in the other movies nobody paid attention to them as a trio.

I find it amusing that the directors choose to include in the shot (in the non-IMAX edit), Pepper's legs over Steve and Thor's heads. LOL!

@LSHF - I find nothing wrong with their choice.

@ElricReturns - I don't find anything wrong with it, either. I think Pepper's legs look better than Steve and Thor's head. But, I do find it amusing.

@LSHF - what I find more amusing is that it seems they took an even amount from the top and bottom. I would have assumed that when transferring it from IMAX to standard, they would be able to pick how and where to crop it, like frame it all the way at the top and have all the black bar be all on the bottom portion for one shot..... or maybe bore black bar on top than bottom. They can frame and crop it from any section if the IMAX footage, but its seems they simply reformatted it evenly.

@ElricReturns - That's an excellent observation, and I agree.

Maybe they just told the software to crop it that way, which is a shame. But, then, the film and television industry has a horrible record for not putting much thought into cropping their stuff.
