By now most of us have seen Marvel's The Avengers at least once and did build up an opinion of our own. By far fans could not influence the Academy nomination process but what if the logic were as simple as this critic stand?

Is it deserving of a nomination? If Avatar was, then Avengers is. However, it's highly unlikely given the biases film snobs have against this kind of movie. Unfortunate, but true. The only chance we have of a CBM winning best picture is The Dark Knight Rises (even if it isn't better) because of Nolan's reputation and the fact that it's not very comic booky.

As long as it gets nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Design, I'll be okay with it. Although it probably should get a nomination in Best Adapted Screenplay as well as Best Supporting Actor for Tom Hiddleston. It probably won't win Costume Design because the Oscars will be all over The Hobbit, but I highly doubt any movie this year will have as good visual effects. Hopefully it wins Best VFX.

It really ought to get the win for Best Visual Effects, unless something astounding happens with Prometheus or The Hobbit. Then again, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button won it in 2008 over Iron Man and The Dark Knight so anything can happen. I don't see any nominations outside of other technical categories.

Does it deserve best picture race? Nah. Not even close. It was really good, but oscar material? Nope.

I thought it was the best picture i have ever seen IMO but i am a marvel dude and i like CBM's but it will not get nominated cause well you know why but you right marvel72 you right doggg

It deserves to be nominated in the major categories because it was THAT good, but it most likely won't be because for the most part only extreme high brow movies get the nom's. I could see a "best original screen play" nomination for it though! And obviously all the F/X nominations will come their way too.

Special effects definitely but not best picture. Still favorite CBM of all time.
