Mark Ruffalo Dishes On The Avengers Script & His First Look As Hulk On A Scale Model!

The actor soon to play Bruce Banner & the Incredible Hulk in Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie, Mark Ruffalo dishes details on the script & seeing himself as Hulk in motion-capture!

The folks over at MTV caught up with Mark Ruffalo, where the actor revealed details on the script for Joss Whedon's crossover spectacle The Avengers. And more interestingly, he reveals details on his first look as the new Incredible Hulk on a scale model.

"It's cool...it's gonna be great," when questioned of The Avengers script,"The script is a nice combination of funny and...was very in Joss Whedon's wheelhouse. And I got to see the maquette of the Hulk yesterday...In full scope and it's awesome! [It Looks] just like me. We're going out of our way to [make him look like me]. First of all, I'm the first actor to actually do it in motion-capture as the Hulk. And so, all the feature's are mine, they're just really big."

With this, we can assume that the new Hulk will look fairly different from the Louis Leterrier-directed Incredible Hulk take on the goliath. And while it may be a big leap, I have reasons to believe Ruffalo's Hulk will have a personality; actual dialogue. Maybe a key reason why he'll play both alter-egos, aside from not wanting a big distinction when Banner Hulks out. What do you think?

Anyhow, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Clark Gregg, Jeremy Renner, Kevin Pennington, and Cobie Smulders, assembling in theaters May 4, next year!

RDJ seemed plenty impressed with the script and Chris Hemsworth said his mind was blown by it. Just don't expect the actors to lose their shit over it in front of a live camera.

I think the script sucks. I'm no stranger to psychology, and Ruffalo's reaction to the question displayed doubt in his own statement. Looks like you guys can rest assured that anything negative Grif may say in the future will probably be very valid. Take heed, 'cuz when I say I can read people, I CAN. Ruffalo definitely showed signs of doubt/disappointment. In other words, he lied, lol.

New to the site and excited to be apart of the great and entertaining debates that I see posted on this very website. Now first, I want to ask a bunch of questions. And I want to have them answered immediatley! 1. Will someone please post the text of Ruffalo's comments. I can't access the video from where I am at. Thanks for that. 2. Is it just me or am I getting a whiff of "douchery" from one Mark Ruffalo? I mean for a guy that is about to play a big raging green goliath full of despair and rage, he sure does seem pretty aloof about the whole thing.

@Indoraptor I totally do expect them to lose their shit. I just expect a lot from Joss I guess.

@Batman27 I hate the term "popcorn film". Quit using it. I'm going too eat popcorn while watching Batman, The Avengers, and every other damn movie I see. What the hell does that even mean anyway? Are some movies to prestigious for popcorn or something? Also, Batman will be just as much of an action movie as The Avengers, it will just be less fun and witty.

@Batman27 Honestly I couldn't care less about TDKR.
Bale's voice as Batman is the most made fun of and the Joker??? Heath was fantastic no doubt, I just dont like the look of the character. He looked like he got into mommy's make-up and didnt know what the heck he's doing. His origin wasnt even close. Even if it has a good story ...Nolan tried to damn hard to be realistic and ends up sucking the fun out of a comic book film!

I , for one, wouldnt mind a popcorn version of the avengers. WHY??? I'll tell you all why. Some movies are too bogged down with origins, love interests, too many villains and or plot points. As long as you are respectful to the tone and look of the charaters I'd love a 75-80% solid action flick! What fanboy wouldnt???

What I mean is don't expect them to lose their shit while they're being interviewed at a ceremony or red carpet opening. They're just trying to look professional. As far as professionalism goes, they all sound excited and impressed with the Avengers script.

Not many people get bored of Batman, whoever said that. He's the most popular hero out right now.

Batman27: Just accept the movies for what they are: Two different types of movies. Avengers may not make as much as TDKR may make money-wise, but does that make it a 'popcorn flick' or anything lesser? Avengers will be amazing even if it sucks, for the obvious reason being that its the effing Avengers man! lol Hell my mind is still [frick]ed that we're lucky enough in our lifetimes to see the Avengers on the big screen!

Vermillon: How can you say batman is the most popular hero right now?
Elayis
Elayis - 2/26/2011, 7:21 PM
He's funny. I agree that I would've preferred Norton as Banner, but Ruffalo is a great and talented actor who I think will be great in the role.

Can't wait for this. Whedon on "The Avengers"? [frick] YEAH! (just hope it doesn't disappoint)

@ batman27

we've had seven batman films(including the dark knight rises)

i've seen enough of him, lets see other characters the likes of the flash & captain marvel.

@ vermillion

i'm bored of batman, for one his not my favorite character.

i've seen enough for a good five years or so,7 films god knows how many animated shows & movies, two many comics & always winning stupid polls where he should be losing them.

vermillion - 2/26/2011, 7:26 PM
If Batman isn't the most popular hero right now who is? Spider-Man? I guess I would say that since TDK made more money than any CBM as well.

And he's Batman.

vermillion
vermillion - 2/26/2011, 7:27 PM
@ Marvel72, Of course he's not your favorite character, he's not a Marvel character, durp.

He wins the polls, gets so many films & animated movies & video games because he's the most popular hero.

Vermillion: So you're saying your basing your information about Batman being the most popular character off of your opinion?
marvel72
marvel72 - 2/26/2011, 7:35 PM
@ vermillion

batman $411,348,924 (joker)

batman returns $266,822,354

batman forever $336,529,844

batman & robin $238,207,122

batman begins $372,710.015

the dark knight $1,001,921,825 (the joker & heath ledger death helped this movie)

batman is holding back other dc comic characters from being adapted into films.

Whether you like Batman or not, the fact is he is one of the most recognized, popular comic book characters in the world. What does that have to do with opinion?
ThreeBigTacos
ThreeBigTacos - 2/26/2011, 7:36 PM
@Batman27: That's a fair way to look at it too. Personally I think Avengers has a fair shot of being a great CBM, and one I'll watch again and again, but when we're talking about statistics, I think TDKR will make much more profit.

@ Sylon: yes its a fact that he's super popular, and widely recognized by every, but its not a fact he's the 'most' popular hero right now. I don't think its fair to say that at all.

The term "popcorn film" is used to describe Big Action Summer Blockbusters or if you like - an event film, that has a huge build up to it and hype surrounding it pre-release. Recent years we've had X-men 2, Iron Man 1 and 2, The Dark Knight, Transformers 1 and 2 to name a few. It is used to market a film as must see by critics and fans. Whether or not the films are any good remains to be seen when they are released.
SavageWolf12
SavageWolf12 - 2/26/2011, 7:37 PM
Honestly, I hope that Avengers turns out to be a good movie, but I'm not expecting a whole lot from it. I like the stuff Whedon has done in the past on tv and in movies (never got to read his comic writing, although I've heard all good things about his X-men run). However, doing an established group comic that you can build up over several issues is different than a two hour movie dealing w/several heroes. I wish them all the luck, but TDKR may very well be a better movie overall because of that fact. No matter what, I can't wait to see them both.

let's hope hulk won't be THAT different looking than TIH. enough continuity rape has been done by replacing norton....
