He'll do fine in the part certainly, it just pains me that recasting a part for the Avengers just kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. It would be the same thing for justice league. Idk I'm fine with it but it still gets under my skin

TheGlove@ Me too! I fear for his cameo now!! Unless they're gonna merge their two voices.

And as for Norton - I am certainly not gonna miss his phoned-in performance. Ruffalo hasn't put a single frame onto film yet - and he already seems to have more passion, more integrity and more desire to get it right than Norton ever did.

I bet Ruffalo will actually do some promotion when the film is released as well!

As much as I liked Norton in the role, he didn't fit the type of Bruce Banner I'd prefer.
I think Ruffalo is going to be better.
Always liked him and I'm glad to see him step into something epic like Avengers!

people need to get over it,YES norton was great but the dude was a control freak, He wanted more control and Marvel wouldn't give it, since the whole point of Marvel Studio's is having full control of there properties. Like I said he was amazing but I think I would rather have an actor who's on board with the project. Too many ego's would kill the Avengers. And anyways I don't give a shit about Banner its the Hulk I want to see.

and Its interesting that he mentions Black Widow, the supposed "leaked" script had a intense scene with Banner/Hulk and Widow
Hellsing
Hellsing - 4/27/2011, 7:45 AM
and Banners meant to be average dude, he's meant to look like a weakling

Hellsing@ I though the whole interview was fascinating. Definitely getting little bits of info on the group dynamic and the differing relationships.

That stuff about how Banner and Stark view each other has actually got me really excited about this film. And it's true - if you were Tony you would be completely fascinated about Banner turning into the Hulk. You might even be tempted to goad the guy just to see what would happen. Of course, that would be totally irresponsible...as if Stark would do such a thing!!

Ethic - 4/27/2011, 7:52 AM
I've a feeling there'll be a scene where Tony is annoying him and he flips and goes Hulk.
And also, most likely a scene where they'll need his help but Bruce won't want to change, and Tony will have to hit him and anger him etc.

I really have NO problem with Ruffalo, never have as an actor. I actually think He'll do great as Banner.(in no way am I saying that Norton did not OWN or isn't the [frick]ing MAN!)I just agree with @TheBoyWonder and absolutely despise recasting in any sense, way, shape, or form. For example: Cheadle is a way better actor than Terrence Howard, but when these switches are made, and consistency is broken, it truly takes away from the story in my personal opinion.. No matter what I'm sure this film will be a blast to watch. Let's just hope they don't mess things up with the "new" look/direction they're going with for HULK. CONCEPT ART PLEASE!!!

Ruffalo seems like a really smart guy, definitely believable as a college researcher. I can't imagine a version of this movie where the Hulk is in it and Betty Ross isn't. Will Liv Tyler return?

@theboywonder, i think that "defeats the purpose of the whole thing" isn't correct. What defeats the purpose is to change the motivations, omit or ignore a character's past, stuff like that. The continuity will be preserved.

Ed Norton's replacement was a unfortunate thing (just like terence howard's), but we'll get over it. I've watched Iron Man 2 again yesterday and thought don cheadle did very very well as Rhodey.

We'll forget that as soon as we watch it.

@orphix ,Ramon, zero and Ruffalo fans

guys look at this piece of train wreckage. He looks someone in his 50's who just got divorced with all those curly long hair, plum cheeks and I can barely hear him.Either he is heavily drinking these days or his body language is so much like a couch potato. He looks lazy and lethargic and atleast 20 pounds overweight for Banner(the Bruce banner as represented in comics).I wonder how will he run away from Ross?he can barely run 1 mph.
He may be a good actor but his physique just dosn't fit banner. He must shave, take a shower and fricking get rid of his unkempt hair.

Ed Norton was fab and its unfortunate that he is replaced, replaced by somebody who never even tried jogging in the morning. We won't even notice him when he shares screen with the other 3.

@RamonSuarez, HAHAHA Yeah I ahve to agree. i actually like Smallville and think it would be cool to see Welling as Superman just because he looks the part, but We will get that in the finale of the show and I will be satisfied.

I am not sure why some people ahve issues with him looking as he does in these videos while playing Banner. If you think about it he is always on the run and would likely look scruffy. The only disappointing thing I heard was that Lou Farringno will not be voicing the hulk. It's not the end of the world, but I guess considering the handful of lines he will say it is not a big deal.

I am really excited to see how they make him look and with Captain America getting a new suit, we all know Iron Man will as well. We will be in for quite a bit of eye candy in way of a fresh new look. N I C E !!!

I never thought of it like that... you're totally right. MARVEL should have had Ed Norton sign a 3 film deal instead of just assuming he would be in for The Avengers...Oh well, I have faith Ruffalo will knock the role out of the park or at least swing for the fences trying to. I've been digging this guy ever since i saw Zodiac. Glad to see he has an iconic role in Hollywood finally.

First off, Ruffalo says he has a couple of lines as the Hulk, but it is presumed that The Hulk will have some of Banner's intellect in the Avengers movie in which Lou (Ferrigno) will be the main voice of the Hulk.

It had been confirmed that Lou was officially the voice of Hulk for the last couple of years and even posted on IMb and Wikipedia. Check it out for yourself:

Cast

Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man: A billionaire industrialist who seeks to pacify the world with a mechanical suit of armor of his own invention. Downey Jr. was cast as part of his four-picture deal with Marvel Studios, which includes Iron Man 2 and The Avengers.

[4]
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / the Hulk: A genius scientist who, because of exposure to gamma radiation, transforms into a monster when enraged or excited. Ruffalo was cast after negotiations between Marvel and Edward Norton broke down.

[5] About replacing Edward Norton, Ruffalo stated, "I'm a friend of Ed's, and yeah, that wasn't a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation's Hamlet". About the character he stated, "He's a guy struggling with two sides of himself—the dark and the light—and everything he does in his life is filtered through issues of control. I grew up on the Bill Bixby TV series, which I thought was a really nuanced and real human way to look at The Hulk. I like that the part has those qualities".[6] Ruffalo also told New York magazine that unlike previous incarnations he will actually play the Hulk, "I'm really excited. No one's ever played the Hulk exactly, they've always done CGI. They're going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I'll actually play the Hulk. That'll be fun".[7] About his preparation for the role Ruffalo joked, "I've lost 15 pounds and I've put another five on of just strapping, pure USDA beef... They want me mean and lean, but they don't want me big and buff".

Where the heck do people get the idea that Ruffalo is overweight? He's not. Look at the video. I have always gotten the Bill Bixby kind of feel from Ruffalo which works for me. Bixby has always been the best Bruce Banner. Norton just didn't do it for me and Ruffalo is going to be a great team player on an ensemble cast. Norton never would have worked in that aspect. Best decision ever made by Marvel.

Mate, you just described my perfect Banner.

He's a scientist, he's on the run, wracked with uncomprehendable guilt, homeless, browbeaten, can't even contact the woman he loves and wanted by the US Military.

I have a sneaky suspicion his gym membership has run out too.

ALSO: During a recent interview, the former star of the 70′s Incredible Hulk TV series confirmed that he would be the voice of The Hulk in The Avengers movie.

“I’ll be doing the voice (of The Hulk). I’m hoping to have a good part in the movie. I’m waiting to see the script, but right now, it’s still pending because they haven’t finished production yet.”

@SKOne

I really don't see how you think they're going Ultimates with this movie. The Kree/Skrull war is something out of the 616 comics. Not to mention Loki is manipulating everything from behind-the-scenes. That's also out of the first issue of 616 Avengers.

I always felt the biggest problem in the 2 Hulk films, above casting and script, was not using motion-capture to animate the Hulk on screen.

Peter Jackson had been doing amazing things with the technology in LOTR and King Kong, making the audience forget they were looking at CGI, so why not do it with the Hulk too? Otherwise, he'll always be a big, green CGI blob.

I'm glad they are finally going in the right direction with this. Ruffalo will be fine.

"To me Norton fanboys are the emotional-intellectual equivalent of Smallville fanboys who incessantly whine about Tom Welling not being in every Superman adaptation ever made"

I don't agree. The whole point of the Marvel movies was to introduce us to the charachters before hand. Oh well, Mark Ruffalo is really starting to grow on me.

Oh and "mark" my words, the a-hole Lou will NOT be the voice of hulk. That washed up roid junkie (that charges little kids $20 bucks just to take a picture with him)has burned too many bridges in this town.
