New Video Attempts To Explain Why Marvel Studios Movies "Look Kind Of Ugly"
Marvel seemingly can't go wrong when it comes to releasing guaranteed hits, but a new video delves into why they perhaps don't look as good as blockbusters such as those set in the DC Films Universe.
When it comes to releasing hit movies, Marvel Studios know what they're doing. Despite that, are they making a mistake in regards to the look of their films during the post production process? The makers of the video essay below certainly think so as they address a point many have made about the visual similarities between their releases and the fact that they end up all looking pretty bland and "ugly."
Despite the negative reviews, both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad were praised for their cinematography, but that's not something you often see in those written about Marvel movies. Looking at the colour grading used in their films, this video offers up a compelling argument about why the studio made a mistake by switching from film to a certain type of digital camera.
Honestly, this isn't something I ever really noticed...until now! However, when you take on board the very balanced argument that this video is attempting to get across, it's fair to say that it makes a good point when it comes to the colour grading of their films. However, Doctor Strange certainly looked pretty spectacular, so the studio probably doesn't have too much to worry about. What do you think?
