POLL: Do You Think Spider-Man Will Cameo In THE AVENGERS?

In a week filled with speculation that Spider-Man will have a cameo appearance in Marvel's The Avengers, it is time to decide once and for all whether you think it will really happen.

In an interview with The Radio Times, actress Jenny Agutter (who has a small role in The Avengers as a "council member") apparently let slip the fact that she had spotted Spider-Man on set during filming. Here is that excerpt in case you missed it:

"I’m sworn to secrecy! I wasn’t allowed a script until I got there, and when I did, I felt like a complete child being on big sets and a huge parking lot full of Winnebagos." She does let slip that two of these housed Spider-Man and Iron Man; we suspect Agutter won’t be able to avoid sci-fi conventions for much longer.

While the internet has since lit up with stories declaring that Spidey will cameo in Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble, common sense says that this 59 year old woman isn't a superhero expert and simply dropped the names of the first couple of characters that popped into her head during the interview. Disney/Marvel Studios own The Avengers and Sony hold the rights to The Amazing Spider-Man. To think they could come to some sort of deal when there is literally billion of dollars involved is bordering on being totally ludicrous. Still, with speculation at an all time high, now is the time to find out whether YOU think he'll turn up alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes when they hit the big screen in just 100 days time.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: April 27, 2012. (UK) May 4th, 2012. (US)

I'm not normally one to strongly bash an article or someone's post.... But what kind of STUPID poll is this? Spider-man is owned by Sony. We all know this, how & why would there be a Spider-man cameo? Jeeezas!

What? You want to know >>>>>MY<<<<< opinion?????!??? I feel so important!!!!!111!!!

Just kidding, you guys (CBM) won as soon as I clicked the link. Regardless, no, it's not going to happen. But what's with the guys on the comments section of another article (on this site) who said Kevin Feige confirmed a Spidey cameo in an interview? I'd be paying more attention to that than what Jenny Agutter said.

If their is a cameo by Spiderman it would be promoting the new Spiderman Movie.

If Sony actually allowed Spider-man into the Avengers in any circumstances at all, it would be the biggest mind[frick] in CBM history. Studios simply do not lend out characters. If they did...

...good God, what is the world coming to? What sort of Marxist crap is this? How could Sony...but the money, what about the MONEY? *brainsplatter*

i would love it, but i highly doubt. anyway isnt spiderman released a while after avengers, so it just wouoldnt make sense. although little easter eggs like stark tower, or spiderman making front page on the daily bugle in avengers would be frigggin SCHWEEEEET anyone else agree?

Put aside all of the studio-owning-what shit for one second. Every studio has probably taken notice to how popular/successful the character crossovers have been in the Marvel flicks. We all know money is king in Hollywood, and if Sony actually wanted to generate A TON of goodwill for their new reboot-- which they no doubt have seen and read that there's a large portion of the audience who are on the fence about this whole project-- they would attempt to strike some kind of temporary crossover so they could feature their character in what's going to be one of the biggest films of 2012 featuring characters who share a universe with theirs. Maybe someone from Sony is thinking outside the box. Spidey shows up at the end of Avengers, everyone screams, then everyone goes to see Spidey two months later. Who knows. Spidey is not a sure thing anymore, and you better believe Sony knows that.

I personally think that Sony will allow Spiderman to make a cameo just because they will be getting a portion of the money that they desperately need. I do hope this movie does well especially because they have a bunch of high paid actors in there cast who love the spotlight..Hopefully they can put there ego's to the side

My gut instinct says no, but the fact that they probably understand that it would be so surprising and cool makes me think there is a chance they would push for it. They could use the justification that it's free advertising for The Amazing Spider-man.

I am just going too say it - I think Spider-Man may be in the MCU. Jenny Agutter, who is actually in "The Avengers", says she saw Winnebagos on the set, one saying Spider-Man. Disney did buy the merchandise rights too the Spider-Man franchise, so while Sony can still keep Spidey, Disney does now have a say in the franchise. Not to mention, reshoots for "The Avengers" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" started around the same time and rumors usually start from somewhere and whenever the rumor has been shot down in the past, it comes up again!

I know producer Avi Arad has said himself "The Amazing Spider-Man" would be a stand alone film, but that was before Disney bought the merchandise rights and he has a track record of being wrong - like when he said "The Amazing Spider-Man" was the untold story in the Raimi movies. Just food for thought, now that Disney and Sony are indeed in cahoots it wouldn't be surprising at all if it was at least brought up in conversation between them. Sure, I will admit I am clinging too a false sense of hope, but there is reason to think something might be going on... I remember a while back a Paramount sign was on "The Amazing Spider-Man" set, weird! Also according to someone who got the latest issues of empire magazine, they state that kevin feige admitted that spider-man has a cameo in the avengers but I will believe that when I see it. Yet Avi Arad Has Denied That Andrew Garfield As Spider-Man Would Cameo In The Avengers. That would only be possible is marvel / disney not only bought the merchandising rights but is in negotiations to get the rights back since sony pictures is going bankrupt or maybe disney / marvel have bought out sony pictures. We will see. http://bestmoviesevernews.com/avengers-movie-shows-off-more-images-plus-insider-details-2928/

Here is how I see it:
During one of the EPIC battle scenes, let a slip of Andrew Garfield(as Peter) watching all this on going glory. Then at end of movie (not the after credit, it's too precious to be wasted on other company's stuff) fury mention how this team have inspired a lot of young people in the hero business.
That would be as far as the agreement between Sony and Disney will go if they ever make one.
