BOX OFFICE: THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE To Dominate FIFTY SHADES And JOHN WICK This Weekend

Despite, ahem, stiff competition from Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick: Chapter 2, the signs are all pointing to The LEGO Batman Movie being the truly dominant force this weekend...

Warner Bros. has been killing it with the marketing campaign for The LEGO Batman Movie, and when you throw in the fact it stars the Caped Crusader, it should come as no surprise to learn that it's heading straight to #1 at the North American box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the animated feature looks set to earn upwards of $60 million and could even surpass $70 million!

That's a great result for the studio, especially as The LEGO Batman Movie is opening opposite Fifty Shades Darker. While its predecessor debuted with a record-breaking $85 million, the follow-up currently looks set to earn only between $30 million - $40 million this pre-Valentine's Day weekend.

Highly anticipated action sequel John Wick: Chapter 2 sadly doesn't look set to make a huge impact, but given its low budget, a $20 million haul isn't too bad. It's also worth noting that it's debuting ahead of 2014's first instalment which made $14.4 million, so that could signal good things for the franchise moving forward. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive too, so that should definitely help.
