RUMOR: Will The Next Cinematic BATMAN Have His Own Film Before JUSTICE LEAGUE After All?

After last week's rumor stating that the Justice League movie script has been scrapped, a questionable source now suggests that the rebooted Batman will not make his debut in the superhero ensemble if it doesn't hit theaters in 2015.

Last week, we heard a report claiming that Will Beall's script for the Justice League movie has been scrapped, and that Warner Bros. wasn't even sure how to move forward with the project. It has been previously said that the rebooted Batman will make his debut in the superhero ensemble, which would make sense considering that a 2015 release was being targeted. However, with new writer(s) being sought out, it would be nearly impossible to have the film ready for 2015 (especially with WB waiting to see how Man Of Steel does before giving a greenlight). Now, a source tells Batman On Film that, despite Justice League being delayed, the Batman franchise will still continue. However, it appears that the Caped Crusader will next be seen in his own solo film, rather than Justice League (assuming that the following is true, of course). "Don't worry about the Batman [film] franchise. It’s [Warner Bros.'] most valuable [DC Comics-based] asset. I believe that they are now looking at introducing [the rebooted] Batman in a solo film, though that will likely take place later than they initially had planned. They are extremely worried how a [the Batman film franchise] would be affect if Justice League bombs...and rightfully so." He/she then says, "The fact that what should be the core fanbase of a Justice League film isn't on board is making them sweat as well."

BOF previously heard that the Batman reboot will be released 2017 at the earliest, but their latest source claims that we could wait even longer if Man Of Steel is as big of a hit as WB is hoping. "If Superman is huge, then they’ve bought themselves some time and will have a franchise to hang their hat on for seven, eight years. The need for Batman won’t be as great, and [the reboot] of that franchise can wait until the Superman trilogy is done." And when can we expect the Dark Knight to return to the big screen? "Under that scenario [No Justice League in 2015 and Man Of Steel being a big hit], I’d say around 2019 or so."

Keep in mind that none of these details have been officially confirmed yet, so take this report with a grain of salt for now. Are you okay with the new Batman having his own film before Justice League, or were you hoping to see the Caped Crusader make his next big screen outing in the superhero ensemble? Of course, all of this depends on Man Of Steel's success when it opens June 14th.

Green Lantern failed because the story was horrible its not like the character would fail. People still remember the old Justice League cartoon and they still love these characaters.

Wow....they really dont know what they're doing do they? At this point I feel bad for WB/DC but then again...its hard to NOT enjoy this trainwreck of a movie known as JLA.

IMO DC should still do a JL movie. However, I don't think they need more than the big three to start.

The only thing I can see WB accomplishing with introducing Batman in a Justice League film rather than a solo film is hopefully attracting movie goers who are just interested in Batman. I think doing anything other than introducing each character in solo films is a big mistake, WB needs to take its time to set Justice League up.

It amazes me that they can find these great writers for their animated content and even their comics yet when it comes to getting live action movies of theri characters done they seem to catch amnesia. They act like they dont even know how to handle their own got damn characters and as a DC fan its starting to get on my damn nerves. How hard is it to have the people who write your animated movies and your comics collaborate on live action films.

I only want a Batman movie if it shows how he really is. Head of a family. Bored of seeing him as a lone crusader.

@LEVITIKUZ i DISAGREE with you that no one would want to see a flash or GL movie i would go see them! Because im a fan but iknow, i know most people arent comic readers but i stand by the fact that GL flash AND WONDER WOMAN can be made into great films given proper respect and done RIGHT! But i do really love your idea of a flash GL movie thatd be fun!

I think they should have 2 team-up movie, Bats/Sups and Flash/GL. Then in JL WW is the only other hero introduce and you already have 2 exiting relation ship between heroes.

@KnightofSteel I don't remember how she was introduce, but i think a good way would be to have Steve Trevor crash on Themyscira while fighting Darseid or white martian invasion and WW agree to help mankind.

@AFRICANNERD The Question would be amazing.

Ah just give it up already. WB don't have the balls to make a JL movie because they are too cheap and wont want to spend what a decent JL film would need to be a hit. I mean how hard was it to make tramsformers 3 ? JL would only have to top that one.. Simple *rolls eyes*

I personally rather never see a JL movie ever get made than get a big flipping turd as a result of executives being more focused on how they can sell more toys and t shirts rather than being interested in making a good quality film.

Is anyone surprised by this? DC is only going to Market Bats and Supes for the foreseable future.

Justice League is not going to happen.

The rest of the characters will be put to the back burner.

Anyone who thanks Bruce Timm would help is wrong, he only likes Batman that's been proven time and time again.

So yeah the next movie will be the Batman reboot. Same with animated movies, it's just going to be Batman with the occasional Superman animated film.

If you want other Superhero movies just turn to Marvel. End of the discussion.

WB sould refocus their attention on making sure each character gets their due in solo outtings. The idea of JLA film in less than 2 years just doesn't make any sense. How are they going to establish these characters properly in a 2 hour movie whilst fighting whatever threat the movie presents while also integrating these wildly different characters into one singular vision and world setting..? Sounds like a disaster. WB is smart in waiting, the knee jer reaction would've been to relase a JLA movie as quickly as possible in response to the Avenger's huge success. I'm thankful they're seeing how Man of Steel does first.

Batman reboot: Open with Batman using his great detective skills, tracking and defeating Zsasz, thwarting a mass murder. Introduce a teenaged Dick Grayson and a younger Tim Drake as being from a Wayne sponsored orphange.Dick to become a protege and ward of Bruce (Set up for Tim to take over when Dick becomes Night Wing in movie 2 or 3). Main villain should be Black Mask to Ground things BUT throw in someone like Clay Face to open that world up to the more fantastical.

I think a Justice League movie would end up being bigger than Avengers, due to their characters being far more recognized. However I never believed this movie was a go for 2015. I'm not sure it will ever get made.

No solo...just throw him in a world's finest, or do a GL/Green Arrow team up they had there own comic back in the 70's there has to be some arc from that they could make into a great story for the big screen and it would expand the universe, and at the same time give the chance for other characters to develop a movie going fan base, and you would have the fantastical elements with GL and also a grounded approach with some one like Green Arrow or WW bring in all the God's and that element of the universe which can lead to a clash or connecting story with New Genisis/Darkseid, or better yet do A NEW GENISIS MOVIE!!...everyone gets who Batman is...take a risk
