New THE BATMAN Synopsis Teases Robert Pattinson's "Disillusioned, Desperate" Dark Knight

Warner Bros. UK has released a new synopsis for Matt Reeves' The Batman, and it teases a more "disillusioned" and "desperate" take on the Dark Knight than we're used to seeing. Check it out...

A new synopsis for The Batman has been released, and it pretty much confirms that this latest big-screen take on the iconic DC Comics hero is going to be a pretty messed-up individual. Like, even more messed-up than usual!

The trailers led to speculation that Robert Pattinson would be playing an edgier, more violent Dark Knight than we're generally used to seeing on screen (okay, so Ben Affleck's version was fairly ruthless in BVS), and this logline suggests that he's going to struggle to contain his rage to such a degree that he begins to see himself in a similar light to the Paul Dano's murderous Riddler.

Here's the updated synopsis via Warner Bros. UK.

"THE BATMAN is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting."

We've seen Batman worry about crossing the line and becoming too much like his villains in the comics numerous times, and it sounds like this inner conflict is going to be brought to the fore in Reeves' film.

The Batman also Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.

This sounds like a much better context to have a raging Batman in than it ever did in BvS

@TopBoy - I mean, Joker, even though I didn;t care at all for it, garnered tons of praise and awards very recently.

I guess my Batfatigue is really serious. I still can't get hyped for this one. At this point, I'm actually more interested in Morbius and days ago I was making a bad joke about Mobius, Morbius and Morpheus being the same person.

I still look forward to see this REGARDLESS what critics and reviews say about it

I wouldn't be surprised at all, if Battinson ends up being just as polarizing and divisive, as Batfleck was in BvS.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - nah because Reeves confirmed he stays true to his no kill rule. Was not the case with Batfleck as he just straight killed people lol. So no I highly doubt it.

Literally everything about this film looks and sounds incredible. Reeves just gets it. Anyone who doesn’t have this as their most anticipated cbm, or better yet just movies in general is out of touch if you ask me. Nothing in the pipeline comes close for any studio. Cannot [frick]ing wait.
