RUMOR: After First Stepping Away As Director, Ben Affleck Now Wants Out Of Playing THE BATMAN
We're going to be taking this one with a massive pinch of salt, but rumor has it that Ben Affleck wants to leave the role of Batman behind him after recently stepping away as director on the next film...
Warner Bros. DC Films Universe could be in much bigger trouble than we first realized. After stepping down as director on The Batman (Matt Reeves is said to be a lock to replace him), a new rumor suggests that Ben Affleck also wants out of the cape and cowl, and to leave the role of The Dark Knight behind him for good.
The report comes from the most recent episode of Collider Movie Talk, as host John Campea maintains that three separate sources have indicated to him that the Live By Night actor wants to stop playing Bruce Wayne/Batman altogether. Apparently, discussions are now taking place with the studio and Affleck is attempting to get out of appearing in the next standalone movie - however, if an agreement can't be reached, that will be his last time portraying the iconic DC hero.
Again, it's best not to read too much into this for the time being (Campea himself cautions that his info may be inaccurate), but would it really come as that big a surprise after the recent developments surrounding the film?
We'll update as soon as we know more, but for the time being be sure to let us know what you make of this in the usual place.
