THE BATMAN: Concept Art For Ben Affleck's Movie Shows Deathstroke Wielding His Trademark Sword

A new piece of concept art from Ben Affleck's version of The Batman shows Joe Manganiello's Slade Wilson/Deathstroke wielding his signature sword, teasing what might have been in the DC Comics adaptation.

Somewhere in the Multiverse, Ben Affleck made his version of The Batman and it was probably glorious. We certainly have no complaints about what Matt Reeves delivered, of course, but it would have been pretty epic watching as Deathstroke set out to destroy Bruce Wayne's life.

It's believed that some sort of past grievance would have put Slade Wilson on a mission of revenge in Gotham City, while Zack Snyder's Justice League confirmed the original plan was for Lex Luthor to tell the assassin who is beneath the cape and cowl (he had his own reasons for taking aim at the Dark Knight after being put in Arkham Asylum at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).

Now, regular SnyderVerse concept artist Jay Oliva has shared a piece of his work from The Batman. It appears to have been taken from a storyboard, and as you can see, Deathstroke is wielding one of his trademark swords. We're guessing this is a glimpse at just one of many awesome fight scenes the movie might have delivered, and it's a real shame we won't ever get to see what Affleck had planned.

The actor is expected to bid farewell to Batman in The Flash next year, closing the door on this era of storytelling. Hopefully, Joe Manganiello gets to take another shot at Slade somewhere down the line.

Never bought into the idea of Joe *Googles how to spell his last name* as Deathstroke.

On the other hand...

Whatever, I don't care. I enjoy Rob's version of batman a whole lot more than Ben's, and I've never liked how a character so associated with Dick Grayson (arguably his archenemy) is seen by many as a Batman villain.

@AndrewHolland - I think it’s an age thing tbh. It’s easier to write a movie or show where death stroke is attacking Batman as opposed to trying to justify why he wants to attack a teenager / 20 year old

Hardly anything 'trademark' about a regular ass katana

Meh, who cares at this point. With The Batman the future of DC is bright and they need to keep that momentum and not muck it up with bullshit like the Snyderverse. Move on. Those movies aren't good anyway
