Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe is no stranger to "creative differences" (just look at how many directors The Flash movie has run through), but this news definitely hits hard.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that The Batman spinoff series - which is being produced under the working title of "Gotham Central" - has lost showrunner Terence Winter after he clashed with filmmaker Matt Reeves and producers over his vision for the HBO Max show.
Now, the hunt is on for a new showrunner to take charge of the series. There's no word on who that could be, but the fact that Winter was hired in the first place suggests the streaming service is looking for top tier talent.
The untitled spinoff was ordered straight to series back in July, and is being developed as a companion to The Batman movie that's now being released in theaters in 2022. Set during the Dark Knight's "Year One" in Gotham City, the show will take place from a Gotham City cop's point of view and, as Reeves explained, will tell the story of the "battle for his soul."
The Batman producer Dylan Clark, 6th & Idaho's Daniel Pipski and Adam Kassan are executive producing, while Rafi Crohn is a co-executive producer on the project.
