THE BATMAN: It Sounds Like Colin Farrell Will Be Donning Some Prosthetics To Play The Penguin

Before COVID-19, stage actor Rob McClure was playing Mrs. Doubtfire on Broadway, and he mentions in passing that the company that created his prosthetics are also working on some for The Batman...

Sometimes, the juiciest intel comes from the most unexpected places! During a recent Q&A, Mrs. Doubtfire star Rob McClure (who was playing the character before COVID-19 closed down Broadway) mentioned the process of getting fitted for the prosthetics needed to help him play the nanny, and the company responsible for creating those FX also happened to work on The Batman

As you can see in the video below, McClure mentions getting to see prosthetics which were being made for Colin Farrell in the DC Comics adaptation. Confirming that they were for The Penguin, it's now clear the Irish actor isn't going to look like his normal self in Matt Reeves' movie.

It's believed that we actually caught a glimpse of Farrell from afar looking more like Emperor Penguin than Oswald Cobblepot. Common sense says that he is portraying the latter character, though, and will potentially be rocking a larger nose than normal along with sharpened teeth.

The Batman is shrouded in secrecy, and with the movie's release date pushed back from June to October, it's likely going to be a while before we see anything more from this one (originally, you have to believe some sort of first look would have come our way during Comic-Con).

Check out the video mentioning Farrell's prosthetics below:

Can't wait to see Farrell's take, feel like he's gonna knock it out of the park. I feel like the prosthetics are just gonna be there to add more weight to his neck or something, like Gary Oldman in The Darkest Hour.

Well, this puts pretty much any version of the character into play. People had understandably been leaning towards this “Emperor Penguin” idea, but Hollywood plays with people’s heights and weight all of the time, so there’s no reason to assume that’s the only way they could go.

After the “Lord of the Rings” and “Hobbit” films, there’s no limit to how much they could adjust his height and weight.

@dragon316 - I had thought of him too, after posting.

Pattinson already is naturally 3 inches taller than Farrell. It wouldn’t take anything extreme to make Batman look significantly taller.

Getting tired of this fan casting crap height and who looks best close to comic character is not always best choice play character it is best who can get job done,.

Guys who played magneto in movies are to short and magneto is 6’2” in comics , then there’s Logan with his height that jackman played, fans who cry say there to short not tall enough play character in movies they should look at height of all avengers I guarantee actors and actresses who play characters in comics to movies are NOT exact height and weight and eye color to how comic characters are in comics be represented in real world movies

I just hope we get a better batsuit and batmobile throughout the course of the movie. I know I shouldn't be thinking this way but the look of the current suit and batmobile are really taking away my hype for the movie.

Are they going to use movie magic to make him short and fat too?

Godawful casting.

Robert Pattinson is 6'1" and Farrell is 5'10". How is that too tall? He'll be fine. Other than Danny Devito who is THAT short. Calm down people, jeez. He's a really good actor, and he does accents pretty damn well.
